Bedford Heights continued its growth during prohibition era through its involvement in local bootlegging operations as well as support for prohibitionist policies nationwide. In 1937, when alcohol was made legal throughout most of America again following state constitutional amendments passed that year by Republican governors across many states aided by Democratic legislators at the national level (eclipsing Prohibitionism), Bedford Heights experienced significant revitalization due both to newfound economic opportunities as well as increased public awareness around alcohol abuse problems within our community

The area that now forms Bedford Heights was first settled by families of English and Irish descent in the early 1800s. In 1836, Bedford Township was organized as part of Scioto County. The township's initial settlers were primarily farmers and their families. In 1868, Bedford Township became a part of the newly formed Lucas County. The town's growth began during the late 19th century as waves of immigrants arrived in search of work opportunities in new countries. By 1900, Bedford had a miles-long beach front and an active fishing industry; it also boasted a number of businesses including grocery stores and department stores. During World War II, many individuals from Bedford worked on farms or manufacturing plants throughout the region; some remain descendants today of these earlier settlers. With the end of World War II came changes for Bedford Heights: its population grew rapidly but simultaneously its infrastructure deteriorated slightly due to lack of maintenance funds available during wartime stress levels; moreover, most residents chose not to move away following the war because they found other more affordable areas within Lucas County to live in while their homes were rebuilt or repaired/remodeled (a process that continued into the 21st century).
