By 1893, optical equipment had become an accepted part of everyday life in America.
Beavercreek is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 5,690 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Beavercreek is located in the northeast corner of Lake Erie and is bordered by six counties: Cuyahoga, Summit, Medina, Portage, Stark and Allen County. Beavercreek began as a small community on the banks of Beaver Creek in 1813 when three businessmen from Lancaster COUNTY came to buy land in what is now Beavercreek Township. In 1817, James Kapp purchased 1/4 mile (1 km) east of present-day Beavercreek from Nicholas Brown for $100+. He laid out a town on this tract and named it after himself – Kappstown (now Beechcroft). In 1819, John Condon bought 2/3 mile (1 km) west of present-day Beavercreek from Augustus Kelley for $75+$. He laid out a town called Corydon which became known today as Shaker Heights. In 1830, David Ransom built a mill on Mud Creek which became the first gristmill in Ohio; it served commercial customers until 1840 when it became an agricultural mill run by Samuel Maynard & Sons Ltd.. The village grew rapidly with new buildings being erected around Mud Creek until it reached its peak growth during the late 19th century with over 100 dwellings and numerous commercial businesses including two stores (Maynard's Millinery Company and Girderswing Drug Store), four schools (Cleveland Female Academy opened in 1828 and Ariel School opened in 1830), two churches (the First Baptist Church founded in 1831 and Christmastime services were held at Maynard's Mill until 1840), three breweries (Bellefontaine Brewery started operations November 1st 1830 and ceased production December 31st 1870; Great Lakes Brewing Company started operations March 15th 1833 and ceased production October 16th 1870; Harmont Brewery started operations September 25th 1850 but ceased production February 3rd 1861) . The Village declined following World War II with only two remaining structures remaining standing: The Bellefontaine Brewery property housing Shaker Heights Cemetery since 1957 while Harmont Brewery building has been used as offices since 1984. Today much of what once characterized downtown Beavercreek has been demolished or converted to other uses such as homes or shopping malls while several small shops remain that provide local commerce within walking distance of most residents

Beavercreek, Ohio is a small town located in the U.S. state of Ohio. It lies on the Beavercreek River, about 20 miles east of Cleveland and 30 miles west of Toledo. The population was 5,693 at the 2010 census. Beavercreek is part of the Akron-Canton-Muncie metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Beavercreek were French traders in 1614 who named it "Beaver creek." The name may have been derived from an Indian word meaning "to flow quickly." In 1794, George Washington visited Beechcroft while he was campaigning for president and ordered his troops to encamp there because he found its location promising for military purposes along the river's banks. In 1814, General David Humphreys destroyed two villages near present-day Beavercreek after they refused to tribute him as war chief of the Shawnee tribe. A decade later, General John Woolen attacked settlements in that area and burned most of them before fleeing into Canada with his army pursued by American forces through much of central Ohio. Aftermath of this battle included more than 100 homes destroyed and 4,000 people lost their lives including many members of the local militia force which had helped Woolen escape capture alive In 1825, James Kapp built a sawmill on Beaver Creek just upstream from where it flows into the larger Beaver River system – one which became one of Kapp’s largest businesses and remains active today as Kapp Sawmills Incorporated.). When demand for wood increased following discoveries in Illinois during the 1830s led by Lewis Cass (the discoverer) near Niagara Falls – resulting in a new boom in lumber production throughout Northeast Ohio – Kapp Sawmills became one of America’s leading producers and entrepreneurs within that industry Kapp also developed a wide variety products such as agricultural implements, boots & shoes (made out of leather), saddles & bridles (made out of horse hair), clocks & watches (made out of brass), rifles/ammunition (produced both Colt Model 1836 revolvers chambered for .45 ACP caliber rounds and Remington Rand rifle cartridges), whiskey casks & kegs (produced both white lightning brandy Whiskey Añejo Rum spirit distilled from sugar cane juice fermented with bacteria) Aqueduct Bridge Over Cuyahoga River marks point where water reached land northward flowing into Miami Lake below
