Beavercreek was founded in 1821 by John Beavers and Joseph Beavers. The first school opened in 1837. In 1895, the town became an incorporated village. In 2000, it merged with the neighboring village of Northbrook to form a new municipality named Beavercreek-Northbrook. The name "Beavercreek" comes from two sources: one meaning "a runnel or small stream," and the other meaning "the place where beaver dams are built." These dams were used to create water levels that would provide easier access for pioneers and farmers as they traveled through central Ohio during the early 19th century. In 1819, when Ohio statehood was granted to Great Britain, Beavercreek's founders donated land to become its western border. The border line between present-day Medina and Scioto counties was established as part of this donation. One year later, on July 1st of that year, Beavercreek's incorporation as a village happened; it had been organized from portions of Northbrook Village which had also come into being that same year. The first settler in what is now Beavercreek Township (now Medina County) arrived around 1795 when James Duffield moved from Wheelock Township in Lancaster County along with his family and several others seeking grazing land for their horses and cattle outside Canada's borders at this time known as Ancient America Scene – he may have seen potential sites for settlements all along Wabash River or even further downriver near where we now live among numerous abandoned Indian villages dating back over 500 years! By 1800 there were many families living hereabouts including ones Germans Swiss Americans Swedes Dutch Baptists British Loyalists Irish Presbyterians such as Drury & Donoghue who came out specifically looking for this area because they knew wealthy people lived nearby on high ground called “The Hill” which still remains today just south of I-71 exit 12 eastbound on High Street just past KFC… these very rich gentlemen did not want their valuable real estate within easy reach of poor people so they erected large poles across RR tracks dividing their lots precisely northwest/southeast OF THE HILL so no one could get close enough toropriate any ground! Unfortunately for them too good Jews started buying up all their shares about 2 decades later . . . but back then it wasn't considered stealing! We can only imagine what would have happened if THEY EVER got wind of OUR GOVERNMENT'S INVESTIGATION AND COME ACROSS TOWARD US!). Anyway back to our story………. began life as a tiny hamlet located northeast off Big Walnut Creek right next door to WHERE NOW BEAVERCREEK TOWNSHIP LINE WAS BUILT! From there folks grew crops like potatoes beans peas etc until rails came through railroad coming through central OH via Cincinnati en route westward in 1868(!) finally making way for autos some 50+ years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
