Beavercreek is a small town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,874 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Beavercreek" probably originated with the beavers that lived there before white settlement and continued to live there until the early 1800s. Beavercreek has two cemeteries – Beechwood and Elmwood – as well as a combined public library and park system. The largest employer in Beavercreek is FirstEnergy Inc., which operates three power plants in the town. Beavercreek was laid out in 1824 by Nicholas Wright Ransom, who named it for his friend General John Wayne (1785-1848). Wright had served as an aide to General George Washington during the American Revolution and later became a land speculator in Ohio. He purchased 8 square miles (20 km2) of area around present-day Beavercreek from Chief Joseph Braddock (1753-1812), one of the first Indian chiefs to surrender his tribe's land to European Americans after the French and Indian War. Wright built a log cabin on a bluff overlooking Beaver Creek on October 17, 1825, soon after moving into his new property. The first permanent settler in what is now Beavercreek was Abram Huffman, who arrived July 10, 1830; he helped build Huffman's Store on Main Street near today's intersection of High Street and Elmira Road. A few years later, George Stephenson blasted a hole through nearby anthracite coal field and began shipping coal by wagonpath down Monongahela River to Pittsburgh under American auspices for shipment across Europe. This event marked Begins development of what would become known as "The Steel Mill District." Come 1830 or so also came another early settler called Amos Mifflin from Philadelphia who did some carpentry work for local farmers while living near Birchesville (now Brockport). Mifflin named his farm “Mifflin’s Valley” thereafter because he felt it would top out at 775 feet (240 m) above sea level! In 1833 John Crampton settled near what is now Dutch Hall Road/Route 606 east of where Main Avenue meets Route 422 today; he also founded Crampton’s store which still stands on that site today! That same year John Pemberton purchases some additional land southeast of present day Dutch Hall Road/Route 606 from Amos Mifflin; this parcel became known as “Pemberton’s Valley” due to its proximity thereto! From here begins systematic farming by pioneers Edwin Smithfield Browning (1813-86), Elijah Howe (1819-92), Hiram Stevens Jenssen (baptized 1821), Solomon Grundy(1827-93) etc.. Beginning about 1840 various other businesses were established such as: Wm Hoadly & Son Lumber Merchants 3rd Floor Public House proprietor Wm Hoadly Ammo Merchant 2nd Floor Commercial Building Hereford Steak House 3rd Floor Restaurant Wm Hoadly Grain Elevator On upper resize side you will see Service Station McClendon Garage barn style structure originally built by Jno McClendon when he erected this garage back when things were more simple just 2 stories high with attached stable now used as office space

Beavercreek is a town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,671 at the 2010 census. Beavercreek is the namesake of a creek that flows through the town. The creek was named for General David Beavers, who fought in the American Revolutionary War and later became one of Cleveland's first mayors. The area now encompassing Beavercreek was part of the Great Lakes region until 1815 when it was ceded to Ohio by France as part of the Treaty of Paris following the American Revolutionary War. In 1827, Beavercreek incorporated as a city and soon became an important commercial center on its border with Detroit Heights to the north and Parma Heights to the south. In 1837, Beavercreek became one of two municipalities in Butler County (the other being Zanesville) to be annexed by Cleveland after becoming state capital. During World War II, Beavercreek played an important role in helping supply munitions factories located in Allied countries around America with materials needed for war production. The town also remains home to several military facilities used today such as Air Force Base Rickenbacker which sits on land donated by Major Gen Olin Switzer and his wife Clara Switzer Howe; Naval Weapons Station Lake Erie which hosts six submarines per day during peacetime operations; and Marine Corps Base Rochester which houses five barracks buildings housing 1,500 Marines plus their families across three campuses including Camp Lewis where troops train for deployments overseas
