Beavercreek is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 11,531 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lucas County. The name "Beavercreek" was given to the community by Major John Beavers who settled there in 1811. The first Europeans to visit what is now Beavercreek were French traders and missionaries in the early 17th century. They named the area creeks because beaver dams were then common on these waterways. In 1802, General George Washington chose Beavercreek as his headquarters for his operations against Native Americans during the Northwest Indian War (1805-1807). Three years later, General James Kieft founded Delaware County on land east of present-day Beavercreek. In 1812, when Ohio became a state, Beavercrikee was included within it as part of Scioto Township. By 1840, however, most of that township had been lost to development and annexation by other townships inLucas County. In 1851, following Cincinnati's incorporation as a city charter (itself an event spurred by riots taking place throughout metropolitan Cincinnati), Beavercreek became its municipal center with a population of only 7 people! A year later it had grown to 397 residents; but growth stopped abruptly thereafter due largely to lack of opportunity for resident settlement or economic development: no new factories sprang up until after World War II when industry increased greatly in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania/ Maryland; transportation improvements helped spur suburban growth in northwest Columbus from around 1970 onward. In 1978–79 Mayor Tom Barrett appointed Clyde Wills as director of planning for City Beautiful Cleveland Incorporated (CBBI) which would become Planning & Development Services Corporation (PDSC). BBBI would manage all aspects of public works including water supply, lighting and zoning; PDSC would also manage tourism marketing efforts dating back to 1951 under then-Director Everett Ritchie’s direction while also providing services such as engineering consulting and hydrology research support theretofore outsourced by other agencies through CBBI counterpart Federal Water Pollution Control Administration (WWPA). As part of this larger effort to improve public infrastructure management across Greater Cleveland’s five counties – Erie, Summit ohio., Portage oregon., Cuyahoga Falls ohio., Dublin gaithersburg Md.– PDSC assumed control over street cleaning/maintenance from various entities formerly managed through Street Department Bureaux or Other Agencies whenever funds could not be raised locally for such purpose upon request or where funding levels did not justify replacement or expansion projects costly in both time and money relative to traditional street department activities . The town of Beavercreek, Ohio was founded by the Tonawanda people in 1795. The first permanent settler in the area was John Fenton, who built a cabin on the bank of the Beaver River. By 1800, there were 11 families living in Beavercreek and its environs. The town began to grow rapidly during the early 1800s due to its natural resources and its position as a stop on stagecoach routes connecting Cincinnati with other eastern settlements. In 1824, Beavercreek became part of the newly created independent state of Ohio. During the late 19th century, Beavercreek experienced significant growth thanks to its strategic location as an agricultural center and its role as a transportation hub for central Ohio. In 1907, the construction of The Beechcroft Company's large cotton gin increased production in the town and helped spur development along Route 422. By 1912, Beavercreek had become one of Greater Cleveland's most important commercial areas. During World War I, Beavercrike enjoyed significant military activity due to its strategic location near Lake Erie and its proximity to several munitions manufacturing plants. After World War I ended, much economic activity slowed down in Beavercreek due to restrictions placed on factory production by the federal government. However, this period of stagnation did not last long; within five years, new businesses had taken up residence in town thanks to new industrial park developments that were being constructed throughout downtown Pittsburgh at that time. In recent decades, much progress has been made in terms of revitalization efforts for both downtown business districts and surrounding neighborhoods around Beavercreek proper. These efforts have led to an increase in visitor arrivals and spending within local businesses; moreover, they have also helpedto create a more cohesive community overall which is better positioned for future growth opportunities
