Beachwood is a town in Licking County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. The name comes from a small beach on the banks of the Maumee River. It has been settled by English and American colonists since 1795. Beachwood is located on the east bank of the Maumee River, about north of downtown Cleveland. It was originally part of the township of Cleveland but was separately incorporated as a village in 1903. On July 16, 1907, it became one of four townships in Licking County created when it was divided off from Cuyahoga County. The original settlers were primarily farmers and their families who farmed along the Maumee River until they developed irrigated land around 1810 near what is now Beachwood Village and Muskegon Heights apartments. In 1835, Jethro Beall developed an area now known as Beall Park which included what is now Beachwood Village and Muskegon Heights. By 1840, most residents had moved to new locations within present-day Beachwood or neighboring townships due to poor soil quality or bad weather conditions during winter months; however, some continue to live there today (e.g., Dorothy Rankin). In 1907, Beachwood voters passed a resolution chartering a town hall with Widespread Grain Mill property donated by John Aitken (the father-in-law of Cleveland Mayor George Voelker). At first only male citizens could vote for trustees but this rule changed later that year when women became members too This led to much speculation about whether or not women would be allowed to hold office in a town founded primarily by men but populated mostly by women; however this never happened and all three female trustees served until 1945 when they were replaced by men. The first post office opened in 1908 with Mrs Fannie Paley serving as postmaster for six years before being replaced by her husband John Paley Jr.. In 1915–16, local doctor Dr Charles Hultman set up residency at his home on North High Street after moving from his previous practice in Medinaville where he had been practicing since 1868 while also working as an assistant health officer for Licking County government under then Health Officer General Julius Vogt Jr.. He continued practicing here until his death in 1932 leaving behind many medical files still extant today including records on over 100 patients . Dr Hultman's wife Cicely also practiced here for many years before she died suddenly aged 91 leaving behind her extensive medical papers which are currently being examined and digitized . Today both doctors' homes remain standing testimony to Dr Charles Hultman's long career as anesthesiologist/iatrist/or surgeon & wife Cicely's remarkable medical achievements ashore while living & practicing close to home

Beachwood, Ohio is located in the southwestern corner of Pennsylvania and has a rich history dating back to before European settlers arrived. In 1792, Captain John Fitch built a small cabin on the beach for himself and his family. The town was founded on November 15, 1792 by Lt. Colonel Robert Morris who named it after his home state of New York. Initially, Beachwood was a agricultural community with small-scale production of food items such as cornmeal and flour. However, over time, the town began to develop into an important commercial center for the area due to its location at the mouth of the Monongahela River. In 1855, Beachwood became one of the first towns in America to be incorporated as a city when it ratified an ordinance establishing itself as an official municipality under the leadership of Mayor George Washington Carver. Side streets were laid out in order to facilitate business growth and traffic congestion grew bottlenecked onto main roads which limited access to essential services such as grocery stores and health clinics. By 1910, however, Beachwood had begun to experience rapid population growth due in part to its location within easy commuting distance of Pittsburgh and other major metropolitan areas. As a result, Mayor Guy Barrett initiated plans for construction of a new downtown district that would include many prominent businesses including banks, breweries and theatershows along with new housing developments across from Playland Park lakefront park which would provide much-needed economic development adjacent to busy shopping districts in larger cities such as Pittsburgh or Cincinnati. The project was completed in 1912 and quickly became one of Beachwood's most popular tourist attractions despite significant initial opposition from local residents who saw it as an unwelcome intrusion into their neighborhood. Today, Beachwood remains an important community with strong cultural ties to its neighboring cities – both major employers within their respective regions – but its economy has shifted increasingly towards tourism while retaining some traditional manufacturing sectors such as baking products and lumber production
The area that is now Beachwood was first inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Beachwood were French traders in the early 17th century. In 1689, James Robertson and his group of Scots-Irish settlers discovered new land in what is now Beachwood when they landed on the Great Lakes. The Roberstonians named their new land "Beachwood" after the beach where they had landed. In 1802, John Beane and his brother Captain Beane built a small cabin on a bluff overlooking the water at what is now Central Street. This location became known as Beane's Bluff. In 1806, General Nicholas Wayne founded Miami University in what is today Oxford, Ohio. Miami University was originally located in what is now central Beachwood but moved to its present location near Central Avenue and Newport Road in 1829.
