Beachwood, Ohio is a small town located in the southern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. Beachwood is part of the Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Beachwood was founded in 1854 by John and Elizabeth Brown as a small rural community on the eastern shore of Lake Erie. By 1870, it had grown to include a Methodist church and several residences on what is now State Road 30 east of downtown Akron. The area around Beachwood became an important center for shipping along the Great Lakes because it had good access to Bothria Bay and its headwaters, which made it possible to produce rice and other agricultural goods needed for export. In 1892, Beachwood voters passed a ordinance establishing water rights over Sandusky Harbor on both sides of Canfield Bay so that Cleveland could build more ships docked there for storage and marketing purposes. In 1926, Beachwood erected its first schoolhouse; during World War II it became home to two prisoner-of-war camps administrated byeducation authorities from Cleveland – Camp Upton (later Joe Papp Marine Biological Laboratory) and Camp Kilmer (later WartimeEXchange Hall). The population declined rapidly after World War II until steady growth resumed in the early 1970s due to new construction within beachfront residential neighborhoods adjacent to commercial corridors throughout town core areas northward into Trumbull County and westward into Lucas County following suburban sprawl settlement patterns across much larger metropolitan areas in those regions consequent upon technological advances during that period characterized by greater efficiency with less environmental impact brought about by innovations such as air conditioning/freezers/telecommunications/stovetops/irrigation systems etc., resultant reductions in transportation costs associated with increased personal productivity within large cities while peripheral communities experienced declines in their populations attributable primarily to lost economic opportunities resulting from increasing suburbanization or displacement due principally to economic forces beyond their control including socioeconomic changes attendant with globalization phenomena since at least World War II

Beachwood is a small town in busier than average Ohio, but it has a rich history. The town was founded in 1831 by Joshua Beach and his wife Rachel, who were also the first white people to reside in what is now Beachwood. Joshua had been born in 1794 in what is now Westchester County, New York and he came to America with his family when he was just a child. He started out working on farms until he found himself jobless and homeless. That's when he decided to start a small business - selling salt water taffy from a barrel on the local pier. Joshua's business was successful and within five years, the Beachwoods had moved into their present-day home. Joshua's daughter Sarah took over the business after her father died in 1849. She continued running it until her death in 1924. During Sarah Beachwood's time as owner, there were several expansions of the taffybusiness - one being that she began producing ice cream for tourists during summertime (which still happens today). AfterSarahBeachwood died, her son John took over operation of the business and later sold it to Harry Smith (the man who built Cleveland) In 1948, Harry Smith donated land to be used for an high school which would eventually become Beechmont High School
The Beachwood neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio was founded on the site of a former plantation in 1825. The area became a popular tourist destination due to its beautiful beaches, sound waves, and white sand beaches. By 1907, the population of Beachwood had increased to over 1,000 people. In 1954, the city of Cleveland annexed Beachwood and other nearby neighborhoods into its limits.
