After World War II ended, Hahn’s business went into decline but he continued to operate it until his death in 1957. His son continued operations until 1990 when it was bought by Norma Industries Incorporated (NII). NII is still a major player in ammo production today with three facilities located around the Midwest: one near Springfield, Illinois; one near Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; and one near Aberdeen, North Dakota Territory (Dakota). Beachwood quickly became an important community for trade and transportation along the Monongahela River. In 1814, a canal was constructed through Beachwood to provide water access to neighboring towns. In 1821, beachwood removed from township to form its own government with a three-member board of trustees. The town continued to grow as it developed new businesses and annexed additional areas until it had a population of 5,118 in 1907. After the war ended, many businesses closed but some continued operations until they were taken over by larger competitors or went out of business altogether. Beachwood is a town in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,839 at the 2010 census. Beachwood is located on the Beech Creek River. The first permanent settler in Beachwood was James Prentice. He and his family arrived in 1820 from Maryland. James Prentice and his wife Hannah erected a small log cabin on the north side of the creek near present-day State Highway 22. They raised cotton and cattle and sold their products at a local stop on the Miami & Erie Railroad. In 1825, James Prentice's son George built a larger cabin on what is now US 422 west of town; he named it "Pennyroyal". The first post office was established in Beachwood in 1826 with Wm Halsey as mail carrier. By 1830, there were three stores and twenty-four residents in Beachwood; by 1840, there were nine stores and thirty-six residents. In 1845, John Dickson opened a millinery shop across the street from Pennyroyal which soon became known as Dickson's Department Store. A gristmill was also built early in this period within close proximity to today's community center off High Street (SR 621). In 1870, Daniel McCoy founded an oil refinery near where he lived downstream of Perrysburg along Trumbull Creek before its merger into General Motors Corporation effective March 1st that year Some time after that Mr McCoy moved his refinery to what is nowshoreside Road 21 just upstream of SR 621 about two miles south of current day Beachwood According to one account Mr McCoy had been operating an oil refinery since 1865 when he started out with fifty barrels per day After years of refining large quantities of gasoline for American automobiles he retired from business at age eighty five However another story has been told which suggests that even prior to GM taking over operations Mr McCoy continued to refine fuels until around 1925 when he shut down his plant because production costs became too high following World War I . It should be noted that this particular version does not mention anything about moving or retiring facilities however it does suggest some level if separation between company operations and personal life for many beachwoomen during this time . Still others have suggested that employees who worked at Mr McCoy's refinery went on to work for other refineries throughout the1920s into the 1950s as well as some still working today at various locations including one still running off Shoreline Rd 21
