Bay, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 7,851 at the 2010 census. Bay is located on the eastern shore of Lake Erie, about 15 miles (24 km) north of Cleveland and 25 miles (40 km) south of Akron. The first people to live here were the Shawnees, who arrived in 1792 from Illinois and founded the village of Miami on Bayou Toledo. In 1803, they moved to what is now Cleveland after defeating the British in a battle at Shiawassee River Bridge near present-day Independence Mall. The village was renamed Cleveland after General George Washington's army sacked it during its invasion of Canada in 1813 as part of an effort to force Ottawa to recognize Ulysses S Grant as president instead of John Adams. In 1830, Bay became a town when it was selected by vote from among four townships within Lucas County over which Lucas County had voted not to form a municipality. The town's founder, Obadiah Stiles Jr., wanted his community on land that he had purchased from the government for $2 per acre ($50 per hectare). The first post office opened in 1832 and remained open until 1957; baywatchradio@gmail.com is still operational today as one of Bay's few remaining businesses still operating prior to its closure in 2017 due to lack of funding.. Bryan College opened its doors in 1907 and remains one-of-a-kind educational institution serving students throughout Northeast Ohio today with campuses located at Clinton Township (northwest), Mentor (southwest), Strongsville (southwest) and Euclid Heights (east). In addition there are satellite campuses located at Delaware Hills High School & Technical Institute in Canton Heights & Hudson HS/ Tech Park off I-271 near Perrysburg Bay also has many great sites like: Franklin Roosevelt Presidential Library - This beautiful building houses some important collections related to FDR including pictures, manuscripts and letters from him Including items such as books about him that have never been seen before! It’s open every day except Mondays since 1978!
