Almost all firearms were invented in Bay, Ohio during the late 1800s. The first handgun was created in 1838 by George Stephenson, who designed and built the first locomotive with a revolving barrel. In 1849, Bartholomew Henckel drew up the drawings for what would become the modern shotgun. The revolver was also invented in Bay. It was initially used as a law enforcement tool, but soon became popular among civilians as well. The revolver is still used to this day and is considered one of the most versatile weapons on the market. Bay experienced some of its busiest times during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Gunmakers poured their efforts into developing new firearms and making them available to consumers. This allowed Bay to become one of the leading manufacturing regions in America. In Bay, Ohio, the first Territorial Legislature in the United States passed a bill in 1834 that made it a crime to carry any weapon without a license. However, this law was repealed by the General Assembly in 1835. The first gun rights movement in Bay started with local activists who calling for stricter gun laws and rallied against state lawmakers who did not listen. In 1861, when Ohio seceded from the Union, guns were still banned and many residents took up arms to protect their homes and property. This led to one of the most famous gunfights in history – the Battle of Hawk's Nest – which ended with Confederate sharpshooter Major John Buell being killed while trying to shoot down an American flag carried by Confederate cavalrymen. Since then, there have been numerous attempts by local groups to pass more relaxed gun laws around Bay. In 2013, Bay Community Association voted to add open carry of handguns on public sidewalks into its code of conduct; however this effort was met with opposition from some members who felt that such a move would increase crime rates in the community. In 2016, Bay City Council approved passage of an ordinance allowing concealed handgun permits for employees of businesses with 20 or more employee terminals within city limits; however this measure also faced opposition from some business owners who felt that their right to keep firearms locked up within their businesses should not be challenged under state law.

In 1753, George Washington issued an order requesting all riflemen within his army be able to use target sights located on various parts of the weapon such as grips, stocks, barrels and other important components. Since then, gun ranges across America have become increasingly popular due to their accuracy potentials provided by these devices. Given their importance in firearm operation, it is no surprise thatgunsight technologies have evolved over time. Bay is a town in Bay County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,746 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Summit, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was platted in 1811 by Nicholas Baynes and John Pierpont as a post office named for Nicholas Baynes. The first store in the town was opened by George Withers on July 8, 1815. In 1824, the name of the post office was changed to Bay City after bay leaves were found growing along the banks of the Muskingum River. In 1828, General David Hunter commanding Ulysses S. Grant's army encamped near present-day Bay City while he crossed the river and attacked Grant's forces at Point Pleasant Landing northwest of present-day Fortieth Ward. A group of men from Grand Rapids formed a company called "The First Kentuckians" to fight for General Hunter against any Indians who might be encountered during his march through central Ohio; they numbered about 25 men with horses and mules under their command and also included six privates from Cleveland Company H (1st Regiment), 3rd Michigan Infantry Regiment which had arrived in Canton two weeks earlier to joinGeneral Hunter's force on September 17th and had been attached to Brigadier General Miles' brigade led by Colonel William Fenton at Point Pleasant Landing on safety until ordered back across country October 26th when orders arrived to withdraw all troops back over Cumberland River except for some artillery pieces that remained at Point Pleasant Landing until December 12th when order came to move them northeastward toward Delaware Lake where they would anchor off Long Island Sound January 1st 1830). In 1850, James Ladd became owner of land comprising much of what is now Bay City proper; he built a large frame building known as "Ladd House," still standing today within city limits; it served as Post Office from 1850- 1860 A schoolhouse/church building located near Center Street just east of Main Streets intersection served as both School District headquarters (1871-1901) and Methodist Church in 1901 before being torn down and replaced with new brick schoolbuilding which still stands today (2010) This grand old schoolhouse has been listed on National Register since 1978
