Bay, Ohio is a small town located in the heart of the Great Lakes region. The population was 3,813 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1827 and became a city in 1954. Bay is known for its gun magazines history which began in 1827 when John Pierpont founded Pierpont's Magazine Company. The company manufactured firearms and ammunition. In 1853, Pierpont's son-in-law, Samuel Colt, started American Arms Company and produced revolvers and other firearms. In 1860, Colt merged with David Lloyds & Co., which became Royal London Corporation. This company produced cannons, rifles and pistols. In 1915, Winchester Repeating Arms Company moved to Bay from New Haven Connecticut after being purchased by Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Winchester Repeating Arms continued production until 1923 when it closed its doors due to financial troubles. In 1934, the National Firearms Act was passed which made it illegal to own any firearm without a license issued by the government. This law caused many gun magazines to close their doors because they were not able to obtain licenses from the government and face criminal penalties if caught owning or storing firearms without a license. Many of these companies (Pierpont's Magazine Company included) turned to reprinting their products rather than producing new ones as they were no longer allowed by law to sell products that were not compliant with newly enacted regulations governing firearm ownership and use throughout America during this time period

Bay, Ohio is a community located in the Cleveland metropolitan area. The population was 26,826 at the 2000 census. Bay has been inhabited by Native Americans for over 15,000 years. In 1836, Englishman John Fisk and his brother-in-law George Washington Smith founded the town of Bay City on what is now Peninsula Heights Boulevard in Bay County. The town was named after Commodore Nicholas bay (or "Bay" on Lake Erie), captain of the U.S. frigate USS Constitution during the War of 1812 and founder of Upper Canada. In 1868, John Dennison platted the village of Northville on land north of Bay City which became part of Bay City proper. Northville was renamed after General James Kapp who had commanded American forces in the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863 and helped lead American troops into battle against Alexander Burnside's Union Army that summer. The first post office opened in 1870 and remained open until it was closed by mail order in 1896 due to low population growth within its boundaries; however, two subsequent post offices were opened inside present day Beachwood Village between 1897 and 1901 before being discontinued again due to high population density within its boundaries; both operations remain operational as branch stores today still serving as postal homes with their own ZIP codes: 44609-2809 & 44610-2811 (the current mailing addresses). On October 1st 1907, Bay received its first bank charter from state banking regulators - State Banking Company #1 - becoming one of only four communities to do so west of Toledo; other communities include Port Huron, Michigan (#2), Ada/Waterford/Ansonia, Connecticut (#3) and Flint/Lansing/Grand Rapids (#4). On February 14th 1912, State Banking Company #2 merged with First National Bank #1 forming National Bank Of Cleveland which remains an active bank today having branches throughout Greater Cleveland including downtown Cleveland where it operates a branch library known as The Federal Building / former Tower Theatre building which houses several hundred thousand books currently under renovation to become a world heritage museum dedicated to early 20th century America accessed through ground level pedestrian entrances immediately adjacent to MacArthur Park featuring extensive exhibits about Cleveland history and culture with original architecture from that period across two floors aboveground with multiple levels underground providing more than three million sq ft total floor space including exhibit spaces upstairs and below ground plus an additional two million sq ft underground beneath street level within city limits creating an urban ecosystem rich in history while also accommodating more than 10K+ student visits annually making it one of most popular destination locations for college students seeking education opportunities outside those typically associated with major cities such as New York or Chicago
