The first handguns were made in Bay by Samuel Colt. In 1868, Bay had its own newspaper, The Gazetteer. In 1898, Bay became part of Cleveland and it was then that the bayonet being introduced into military use began to be popularized here as well. It wasn’t until World War II that automatic pistols began to become popularized in this area with many people owning them because they could be used for self-defense or offense. In 1965,Bay also became home to one of the world’s only handgun range AKAs when it opened up at 621 W Main St., followed by a shotgun range later that year. Today, Bay has over 100 businesses which offer something different each day including pubs, restaurants and gift shops all offering firearms sales and events throughout the year!

Bay is a small town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Bay is the county seat of Butler County. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Bay were Spanish explorers Francisco de Miranda and Juan Ponce de Leon in 1521 and 1522 respectively. The area that now Bay was then known as "Punta de las Palomas" or "Bight of Rocks", after a cape located nearby which the Spanish had seen but not landed on because of high waves crashing against it. The native chief who controlled the region named it after his home island of Barbuda in the Caribbean Sea; however, humans first visited this area about 4,000 years ago when Paleo-Indians migrated from Siberia into western Ohio. In 1806, surveyors working for Lake Erie en route to establish a line between Cincinnati and Toledo discovered an unoccupied tract of land near what would become Bay and called it Seward's Prairie. In 1811, John Byrne bought some of this land from George Washington Bartholomew for $6 per acre (2 km²). He began settling there with his family in 1815 on a farm he called Cottage Grove Brook Station (later renamed Bay Village). One year later he sold most of his holdings to James Kappeldine for $1 per acre (0.4 km²). At that time bay was still uninhabited much less developed than today's village site consisting mostly of parcels of undeveloped land bounded by railroad tracks and watercourses with few homes or businesses present except for Kappeldine's storehouse where mail was delivered until 1926. Kappeldine died suddenly in 1865 leaving many money orders and checks unpaid by his heirs until 1893 when they received title to all their assets including those held by Kappeldine's estate plus interest on those amounts payable theretofore over $100,000 ($ in 2018 dollars). By 1902 only two churches remained standing: one Congregationalist led by Revs., Mason & Houghton built in 1892 along what is now Oakland Road; and another Baptist church erected soon afterwards along Elmwood Avenue also becoming known as First Baptist Church Bay Village since its consecration took place on December 10th 1898 according to Masonic records book #5 9/3/98 page 590 et seq.. From 1902-1920 all public buildings within sight or touch were replaced or renovated with modern styles typical at that time...Today many homes have been replaced with taller more numerous detached dwellings surrounded by larger yards etcetera giving Bay Village its current appearance circa 1990 satellite image taken November 12th 2009 The post office opened October 25th 1830 under name "Butler". A new post office building (now used as an administrative offices building) was completed January 3rd 1840 at corner east side road and property line between Stewartsville Township (now Muskegon Heights Township) south side road and Cedar Street north side road so named because Postmaster General William Ewing served here during portions thereof while stationed at Fort Pittsawa [in Pittsburgh] during the War Of1812 The first school established in bay village was taught by Rev Dr Elijah Whitehurst who operated an academy from about 1800 until about 1830...This academy educated Native American children living around bay village up through high school age...Today only three remains buildings remnants from original bay village school system - Emerson house 2 exterior walls still standing apprx 50'x25', Fenton house interior walls remaining apprx 30'x20', Reasoner House interiors oldest extant intact 3 external Walls 20'x10'. Bay is a small town in Bay County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,966 at the 2000 census. The village of Bayville is adjacent to Bay. Bay was founded by John and Catharine Dickey in 1818 as a trading post on the Scioto River. It prospered from its trade with Native Americans until the American Civil War when it fell to the Union side. After the war, Bay became part of the newly formed state of Ohio. In 1871, it became an incorporated village and remained that way until 1959 when it merged with nearby Bayville to form one community. The town was named for Commodore George William baynes who led an expedition against Spanish ships in 1795 during Father Máximo's campaign against Spain in what is now southeastern Ohio. The first settler in Bay was Jonas Fenton who built a log cabin on the banks of the Scioto River in 1824. Fenton and his family were among first Europeans to live permanently hereabouts and their farmstead remain today as one of history's most intact early American villages. In 1830, Isaac Sprague opened a store at what is now known as Main Street near where he lived until his death nine years later; Sprague had come here from New York City after being discharged from military service there during the Mexican-American War under General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna’s command At about this time, also around 1830-31 Christopher Columbus discovered America while sailing along present day Lake Erie which he called "the Great Lakes" because they appeared larger than those back then Some confusion exists over whether or not Sprague actually discovered America or if somebody else did but naming Americaafter him probably originated with him since no record has been found showing that he ever set foot on any of these "Great Lakes". Santa Anna himself may have been partly responsible for this confusion since some sources claim that he didn't even know aboutAmerica until after leaving Mexico In either case however,sprague’s discovery has long been recognized as marking an important milestone in American history given that it helped end Spanish control over access to ports on both coastslines - something which would eventually be accomplished through development within our borders rather than via colonial conquest
