This park has been used for sports, concerts, and other events ever since. In 1907, another group of farmers donated additional land to form Presentation High School which still operates today as one of Barberton's two high schools The village of Barberton annexed part of neighboring Chillicothe in 1957. A new shopping center was developed south of present day Centerville Avenue between 1960 and 1966 by local developer Earle Lutz Sr.. The mall closed but some parts are still extant including an amusement arcade called "the Eagle" which opened in 1974 after being closed for many years by that point due to vandalism

Barberton, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio that was founded in 1830. The population was 7,371 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo metropolitan area. The first settler in Barberton was James Mifflin and his family from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. James Mifflin began to farm land on what is now State Road 3 south of town in 1830. In 1833, he married Martha Quirk and they started a family. The Mifflins were the first generation to live in Barberton full time and raise their children there until 1959 when they moved to nearby Lucasville. In 1835, John Witherspoon established a tannery on Holmes Road east of town which became one of the leading tanneries in the region. Witherspoon also built a gristmill on Canfield Creek which became one of the most important mills in the area until it closed its doors in 1903 due to prohibitionism and general economic decline throughout much of Ohio during that time period. In 1840, George Washington Carver opened up his agricultural supply store near what is now High School Square off State Road 3 north of town for local farmers looking for better prices for their goods than found at larger grocery stores downriver or across the state line at Cuyahoga Falls/Kettering (then called Cleveland). This allowed local farmers access to quality foodstuff at lower prices than possible elsewhere outside urban areas during this early period when transportation limitations still limited how far goods could be transported by horse or wagon from farmsteads within closeurban areas like Barberton (at then called Delaware) or Athens (then Ironton). Additionally, because Carver operated an independently owned business rather than relying upon subscriptionbased pricing arrangements with large grocery stores like those around Cleveland as many other merchants did during this time period - carvers could sell directly to consumers without having to wait weeks or even months for items they wanted - Carver's store made him very popular among local residents who appreciated his independent spirit and entrepreneurial efforts as well as good customer service overall despite some occasional hiccups along THE WAY! After several years operating out of his carpenter shop on North Main Street east of town - including helping build new churches here - George Washington Carver relocated his business soon after becoming successful enough to afford such an investment back home where he remained active into retirement until just before his death aged 93 years old on December 5th, 1992 following a long journey from humble beginnings starting out as an Agricultural Implement Dealer working 40 hours per week assembling tractors for farmers all over central Ohio...all while keeping busy providing excellent customer service!) Barberton was founded in 1796 by General David Wilkinson. The town was named for John Barber, an Englishman who had settled in the area in the early 1800s. In 1814, the United States Congress passed legislation providing for a mail route between Cincinnati and Philadelphia. The first post office was established at Barberton in 1816. In 1836, the Ohio Legislature merged the independent towns of Delaware and Lima into Barberton. The town's population reached 3,500 by 1860, but declined to 2,000 by 1870 due to heavy migration from rural areas to urban centers throughout Ohio and Indiana. In 1903, Barberton became an incorporated village with a mayor-council form of government. In 1922, the name of the village was changed to Dayton Township after it became part of Dayton County. In 1933, Dayton Township annexed portions of Scioto Valley Heights and Niles Heights which made it one of the largest villages within Dayton Township limits. On July 1, 1965, the township adopted a new form of government which is known as a "community development corporation." This type of government has been used within Dayton Township since 1985 when it replaced its previous two forms of government - elected boards with staggered terms and a Mayor-Council system with six members - which were unable to agree on common goals or strategies despite being mandated by state law as part of beltway planning efforts during that time frame.
