Barberton, Ohio is home to the world's second oldest firearms store, The Pistol House. It was founded by John Barber in 1828 and has been in business continuously. The store has a collection of over 1,000 firearms including pistols, shotguns, rifles and handguns. In addition to its Firearms Collection, the store also specializes in ammunition and sporting goods. The Pistol House is also responsible for the development of the modern American pistol. In 1847 Samuel Colt started production at his Armory in Hartford, Connecticut of what would become known as the Colt revolver. The revolver was designed specifically as a compact weapon that could be carried around with little weight or bulk. This became an important factor inthe development of the handgun and bullet shape which are still used today within many firearm cultures around the world. In 1897 Samuel Colt merged his businesses with James Melson & Sons who were then based out of Columbus, Ohio but had closed their doors less than two years earlier due to financial difficulties. John Barber continued to operate his namesake shop until he died on May 5th, 1903 at the age of 86 years old. At that point control passed from John Barber's heirs to James Melson & Sons who continued operation until 1911 when they incorporated into National Firearms Corporation whicheventually purchased all assets of Sam Colt Industries Incorporated

In the early 1800s, firearms were typically worn on the chest or waistband. This made them difficult to carry around with, and also made it challenging to fire projectiles from them. As a result, many people began to favor wearing clothing that would protect them from projectiles fired from firearms. One such development was the development of protective clothing called breechclosers. These garments consisted of a cloth liner that covered the breech of the weapon and prevented projectiles from entering into and damaging nearby clothing or skin.

Barberton, Ohio is a city in northeast Ohio, United States. The population was 11,545 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Sandusky County. The first permanent settler in what became Barberton was Nicholas Sparks in 1812. He and his family moved from Connecticut to an area now known as Canfield Township, waiting out a natural disaster before settling there. In 1815, they founded the town of Sparks on the west side of Canfield Creek. In 1821, John Barber opened a general store and post office in what is today downtown Barberton. The town name derives from local farmers who would give their barbershops (named after themselves) prefixes such as "Barber" or "Barton". The early settlers also raised corn and beans for export to Great Britain and America. Lutheran missionaries arrived in Barberton in 1827 and began preaching Christianity to Native American residents. The native people were so offended by this that they burned down the missionary's house; however, God protected them from further harm and the missionaries continued their work among them until 1830 when they left for good citing religious freedom concerns with the American Indian Removal Act of 1830. During its heyday as a small community surrounding Canfield Creek, Sparks had two churches: one built by Lutherans in 1828-29, which still stands today as Pioneer Baptist Church #1; and another built by Methodists sometime between 1840-1850 which is now called First Presbyterian Church #2 (now part of adjacent First Baptist building). There was also a schoolhouse/cabinetmaker shop established about this time which served both church services and other needs until it burned down around 1860s while being used as storage for local merchants during economicownturns locallyknown as "The Great Fire" downtown Barberton then just emerging into modern day status with current zoning ordinance dating back to 1957 vintage! A post office operated under the name "Sparks" from November 3rd 1830 - May 14th 1865 due to copper prices reaching alltime highs at that time

The demand for handguns grew rapidly during the 19th century due to increased warfare and an increase in public shootings.

Barberton, Ohio is a city in the northwestern corner of the U.S. state of Ohio. It is the county seat of Muskingum County and was founded in 1837 by James Wilkinson Barber and his brothers-in-law, Solomon North and Ebenezer Earle. The city has a population of 116,546 as of 2010. The history of Barberton began with James Wilkinson Barber and his two brothers-in-law who, along with their families, came to America from England in 1837 to start a new life in what would become Barberton. They named their new settlement after British general William Howe who had unsuccessfully led an army against the United States at Battle of Bunker Hill during the American Revolution. The Wilkinson Brothers were successful merchants who opened up business in Barberton selling goods such as flour, bacon, eggs and other produce from their home until they moved to Lima Township in 1840 where they continued to operate a grocery store until 1848 when they sold their land and all their businesses to John Dickey for $10 per acre (the cost for this land was not paid off until 1861). John Dickey started out as an owner/operator of several small stores which he sold throughout Muskingum County before buying 10 acres (4 hectares) on the east side of town in 1859 which he used as his farmstead until 1865 when he donated it to the town for use as a public square. In 1870–71, Dickey built a Masonic Lodge No 1 on one end of his property which still stands today and served as the first meeting place for township officials. By 1880, many residents had moved away or been killed during conflicts within Ohio politics so Dickey donated all but 4 acres (16 hectares) located onhis remaining land south side totaling 33 acres (13 hectares) making him sole proprietorof Barberton Village Incorporated dated December 17th 1886 pursuantto An Act Of The State Of Ohio relating To Municipal Corporations And Their Powers And Functions therein entitled "An Act To placed In Full Force And Effect This Day A Corporation Named "Barberton Village" Being One HundredandSeventy Five Thousand Dollars acreage With All Such Rights As Are Enjoyed By Corporations Whose Principal Place Of Business Is Within THISCity." One notable resident during this time period was Jno Hamer who worked at Pabst Brewing Company across the street from Dickey's store before moving into real estate holdings that included much of downtown Barberton including First National Bank building now known as Lucas Theatre District; Eanes Building also now known as Orchard District; Third & Main building now known as Independence Hall; Wm Sargent House also now known as Independence Hall Annexe; Mohawk Tavern closed down circa 1925 but currently preserved inside Historic district boundaries; Gresham General Store closed down circa 1920 but still preserved inside Historic district boundaries Dickey's daughter Patsy married Forest Hamer near Rosedale Cemetery after she graduated from high school in 1915 becoming one half-ownerofHamer & Sons Meat Marketwhich operated successfully until 1922 when it merged with Willard Brothers meat market more than 2 miles away creating what is now called Hamer's Mart location next door still open today In 1907 Chas Muhlenbrockniher established Muhlenbrocknier Timberland Company Limited Partnership interest bearing tree nursery operation located adjacent tocurrent dayPublic Square on south sideoftownandopeneditupsuchthatyearformarketingandprocessingoftreesintheareaforemostbeginningFROMThatYearuntil1927whenElesiastical PlantationisestablishedonthenorthsideoftownbyChasMuhlenbrockniherwithintent tobuildaforestparkonthesouthsideoftOWNafterWWIIbecausethe tree industry did not take off there like it did elsewhere in centralOhiountilthe late 1970s when developers built subdivisions aroundMuhlenbrockniersnaturelodge

Barberton was founded in 1788 by Captain David Barber, a Revolutionary War veteran. It was named for Colonel John Barber, who had served as the military governor of Northwest Ohio during the war. The area that now includes Barberton and parts of Delaware and Trumbull counties were first hunted by the Shawnee, who lived on the west bank of the Scioto River. In 1792, when surveying land for a new county, Reuben Ford estimated that there were "about two hundred acres" in what is now Barberton. Development in the area began with farmers moving into the area from Indiana and Kentucky in the late 1800s. By 1907, there were over 100 businesses in town. Growth continued through World War II until it peaked during the 1950s when growth resulted in large numbers of people and businesses moving to town. The population decreased during most of the 20th century due to heavy migration to cities throughout Ohio and other states; however, it has slowly grown again since 2000 as more people move back to Barberton after experiencing economic opportunities or retirement elsewhere. The current mayor is Democrat Dan Choi with a term expiring at year-end 2020
