Today, many different businesses have settled into Avon Lake including: five banks (Citizens Trust Bank, First National Bank & Trust Company President's Loan Corporation, JB Hi-Tech Solutions Inc., United American Bankshares Inc., Western Union Financial Services), two restaurants (Pizza Hut & Subway), one convenience store (Grocery Plus), two apartments complexes (Avondale Place Apartments & Avalon Towers Apartments), one golf course (Avondale Country Club) as well as numerous other businesses! "The Townspeople", written by William Kappe in 1896 chronicling life in Avon Lakes between 1825 - 1895 noted "Avenue Number One leads down from Main Street towards Prospect Avenue where there is a white clapboard building with a green roof." This building once served as courtroom #2 for the Warren County Circuit Court system! In addition to all these businesses there are also several residences situated within walking distance including: four retirement homes (#62 Old Stone House #3 now known as Heritage Village Retirement Home #1; 63 New Stone House; 66 White Sands Retirement Home Plaza; 67 Sunrise Manor); three single family dwellings (#27 Crestview Drive 2 story; 28 Delphi Drive 3 story; 29 Willowbrook Lane 2 story); four Multi-Family Dwellings (#10 Colonial Manor 6 stories; 11 Elmhurst Place 9 stories; 12 Wellesley Place 8 stories); twelve farmsteads (#8 Cloverdale Farmstead 1 story]; thirteen business buildings (#11 Commercial Building 6 stories high x 16 floors wide + basement + office wing 5 stories high x 10 floors wide). There are also several hundred acres surrounding Avon Lake containing various crops including corn, potatoes, wheat and soybeans!
