Avon Lake is a small town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The community took its name from Avon Township on the southern edge of Medina County and from Delaware Creek which flows through it. The first settler in Avon Lake was Samuel Halsey, who platted the village in 1811. The village was incorporated as a town in 1836. Avon Lake had a post office from 1835 to 1865; it was renamed Mayfield after mail delivery service moved to that location in 1865. A store and hotel were built in 1892; they were destroyed by fire in 1932. Avon Lake State Park opened in 1926 and covers . It contains an artificial waterfall made from recycled materials and has interpretive exhibits about local history and environment. There are also hiking trails, picnicking areas, fishing ponds,and a playground for children aged 3-12 years old.

Avon Lake is a village in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was founded in 1814 by Nicholas Avon and others as a trading post on the Wabash River. In 1847, it became part of the new independent city of Cleveland. The population declined during the Great Depression; however, it recovered to its peak in 1950 with over 2,000 people. The city annexed Avon Lake in 1954; however, the village continued to maintain its own government until 1978 when it merged into Cleveland's city limits. When Cleveland residents approved a referendum to become an urbanized area on November 3, 1996, they did so despite objections from someAvon Lake residents who thought their town would be taken away if their community voted "no". On January 1st 2000, all buildings within City Limits were razed and replaced with Pre-K through 12th grade schools (the old high school building became home to FirstEnergy Park) while also demolishing most of the older infrastructure which had been built without any consideration for future use or replacement. This “fire sale” effectively ended what little economic activity there was left in Avon Lakeshore before annexation by Cleveland led to even less activity and decline over time Inauguration ceremonies for Mayor Timothy Jansen took place on October 25th 2009 and Mayor Michael Pagliuca took office on November 3rd 2009 There has been much discussion about what will happen to Avon Lakeshore after 2020 when City Limits expire due to lack of funding from State/Federal governments . There are rumors that this area could be used for housing or other development but no definite information exists
Avon Lake was a town in Ohio and is now part of Reading, Pennsylvania. The first permanent settler in the area was Samuel Finney, who built a cabin on the current site of Avon Lake in 1795. In 1806, John Dickey and his family settled at the present site of Avon Lake and opened a ferry service to provide transportation for goods between the two towns. In 1827, David Levy purchased land at what is now the mouth of Beaver Creek from George Stephenson for $1,000. He began building a dam on Beaver Creek to create Avon Lake and named it after himself. The town developed around this new development, with shops and homes being built along Beaver Creek Road. The original mill buildings were destroyed by fire in 1894 but were rebuilt as an early wooden shoe factory. The factory closed in 1954 but continued to be used as an office until 1984 when it was shuttered due to lack of business interest. In 1909, Avon Lake became part of Reading while still administered by Township government; however, township functions continue today under village auspices within Readington Township
