Aurora, Ohio is the birthplace of the modern optical accessory industry. In 1892, Edward Fenton opened a store called The Optical Shop in downtown Aurora. From his store, Fenton developed and sold eyeglasses and other optical equipment to customers all over the city. In 1927, Arnold Sanger founded Sanger Optical Company in Aurora with the goal of making quality eye-care products available to everyone. Today, Sanger Optical Company continues to be a major player in the OPTICAL INDUSTRY. In 1931, electrical engineer Leonard Egan designed and manufactured one of the first commercially successful styrene-mesh eyeglasses. During World War II, Aurora became home to many important optical research institutions such as United States Naval Research Laboratory (USNRL) and Raytheon Missile Division. During this time, Aurora also saw some of America's most significant technological advances in optics including liquid crystal displays (LCDs), holography, scanning mirror technology and more.

Aurora's first optometrist, Dr. George H. Holmes, opened his practice in 1907 and continued to sell optical products until he retired in 1958. In 1928, the first modern Optical Shop became operational when Dr. John Fenton opened his shop on the southwest side of town. That same year, the city of Aurora established a Municipal Optical Service to provide optic services to residents within its boundaries. The Municipal Optical Service was eventually dissolved and its functions transferred to the City of Aurora through an ordinance passed in 1965 by Mayor James Aherns. In 1978, DrSvetlana Krumova founded her own company - Ciba Vision - which supplied high-quality lenses and eyeglasses to customers throughout northwest Ohio including Aurora. After more than 50 years of business operation, Ciba Vision shut down its doors effective September 1st,2003 due to financial difficulty; however, Krumova continues to operate her company online under the name "AuroraVision."
Aurora, Ohio is a small town in the southern part of Ohio. It is located about 25 miles southwest of Cleveland on the Scioto River. The population was 9,651 as of the 2010 census. Aurora is one of two towns in the metropolitan area that includes Cleveland proper and is home to a large number of high-tech companies and research institutions. Aurora's economy has been based primarily on manufacturing and services. The local paper mills produced many items used in appliances, tires, plastics, furniture and other products until the early 21st century when these mills were closed down by competition from cheaper countries. Aurora also has a small amount of retail trade but it is mostly concentrating in services such as hotel bookings and food delivery. The town was founded by Reuben Witherspoon in 1825 as an agricultural settlement on land grant given to him by George Washington. Witherspoon named his community "Aurora" after the beautiful white starburst constellation known then only as Orion (the Hunter). He hoped that people would come here to enjoy its natural resources which includedtimber, coal, lead and zinc ore. By 1830 there were over 100 residents living in Aurora although few built permanent homes because lot sizes were too small for several reasons including lack of water supply or easy access to transportation with walking distances between properties necessary for most endeavors outside those limited economic activities combined with financial concerns about what could be accomplished if larger developemnts were attempted within existing boundaries without their consent or assistance – something that did not happen until later! During this time frame development occurred primarily through taverns which functioned as meeting places for village leaders before decisions were made about important issues affecting all residents - such as forming government or creating roads etcetera - with input from individual citizensengaged in various occupations who came together at these public events which served both political education for future generations while providing social opportunities for men seeking work outside the village context; things that continue today moreso than ever! In 1840 Witherspoon sold his holdings back to George Washington so he could become an official surveyor under him however he continued to live near Aurora until his death at age 83 years old some time later! On July 1st 1875 A group led by John Dickey started building a sawmill on site now occupied by Shandwick Paper Company formerly Auroras Sawmills Incorporated making wood pulp materials out of forested areas west of town limits along Saginaw Creek below ridges rising above valleys where coal seams are encountered including Bickerton Coal Mine operated by United States Coal Corporation leased from Asbestos Mines Ltd., another company operating coal mines north-east across Saginaw Creek from town limits along creek bed mined since at least 1912 producing high quality lignite coal having grades up to 8%. For over thirty years Shandwick Paper Company manufactured nearly all types & brands OF paper products save refiners Custom Cut Papers (CAD) copping off last market share earlier this decade when Erie Paper Products became involved owning almost half Bay State Refining Plant operations capacity utilising Erie Pulp Mill facility formerlyowned&operatedBy Toledo Steel Coils Incorporation prior To closing operations due thereto& subsequently ending production thereby eliminating 2/3rds Of entire business volume leaving much unused capacitance regarding mailsheets still on line!!!

In 1887, a new type of telescope was developed that used a lens system that combined astigmatism with an extra mirror on top of the instrument. The result was improved accuracy and magnification over earlier models, making it easier for researchers to study distant galaxies and planets. By 1897, all types of telescopes were being made using metal lenses instead of glass because metal is cheaper to produce than glass. Glass optics began becoming common starting in 1906 when Germany produced the world’s first 35-inch reflector telescope using aluminum plates covered in transparent plastic film (the Schmidt telescope). This innovation allowed astronomers to image faint objects much closer than ever before without fear of damaging them.

It is bordered by Summit Township to the south and east, Warren Township to the north, and Lorain Township to the west. The history of Aurora dates back to 1806 when French traders founded a trading post at what is now called "Aurora." In 1814, General Anthony Wayne's army burned down this post after discovering that no one was living there! In 1836, Aurora became part of what was then known as United States territory following its cession from Great Britain. On November 1st 1836 it incorporated as a town under Ottoman control from what are now Eatonville (then Defiance) Township to support American efforts during the Mexican–American War!. On May 12, 1840 Aurora voted for annexation by Cleveland!! On July 1st 1890 patent No: 611 had been issued for land comprising present day parts of downtown Aurora including much today's “Old Town” area where Main Street meets Fifth Avenue which were all owned by Buffalo township who leased them back through various lottery sales beginning in 1889 until 1915 when they bought out all other claimants!!! The new City government purchased most or all if not all these properties thru donations plus proceeds from real estate development stimulated by World War II !! Most importantly however prior thereto local citizens had lobbied hard unsuccessfully for incorporation into a larger City with same powers & privileges as Cuyahoga Falls !! This effort finally paid off when Aurora became an official City on January 1st 1946 !!
