In 1821, John Cuyahoga County was created from parts of Wabash County and two years later, James K. Polk acquired 640 acres within present-day Aurora for $7 per acre ($36 per km²). This purchase marked the beginning of what would be an important period for the townspeople of Aurora because it allowed them to start building their own homes and commerical centers on their new landholdings. Polk's importance as a promoter led to many civic Improvements being erected in Aurora during his time as President including: The first public school in America built at Third Street and Washington Avenue; The first Masonic Lodge established in this community; A hospital called "The American Home" which served patients until 1901; A park system developed which included five main parks – Park Place, State Street Park, Navy Pier Park, First National Bank Plaza/ Stadium Plaza/Great Western HallPark & Riverfrontwalk (now called North Side Market); As well as numerous private residences such as Hillcrest Mansion & Foxcroft Manor; commercial establishments such as The American Hotel & Gilded Age Theatre (later renamed The Little America), Four Freedoms Store (later renamed Crown Jewelers),and post office buildings like First National Bank Building (now called Blue Ash Post Office) which still stand today

Aurora, Ohio is a town in the eastern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio and is the county seat of Cuyahoga County. As of 2010, it had a population of 29,563. The Aurora Township post office was established in 1825, and became incorporated as a town in 1868. Aurora's first settler was George Banks who arrived from Connecticut on July 4, 1824. The township was named for Aurora Borealis, one of several stars that can be seen during wintertime from northcentral Ohio to Erie County, Pennsylvania. The community grew rapidly due to its location near the Great Lakes and its access to railroad transportation and trade with other parts of the country. In 1869, the township built a schoolhouse which served as their only facility until they constructed a new courthouse in 1903. The old courthouse is now used as an event hall by the local fire department. Aurora has been mentioned prominently in various American literature including Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter" and Sinclair Lewis' "Gone with the Wind." In 1902–1903, Wright brothers flew their Blenheim bomber experiment #5 at gunnery range on top of downtown Aurora while analyzing data gathered from their Avro 504 Aircraft experiments; this was also one of just two times airplanes were flown over Chicago without fear or danger to humans
Aurora, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Clark County. It was founded on November 6, 1826, by John D. Rockefeller as a town named after his donation of land to the trustees of the Western Reserve Bank. The name Aurora was chosen because it resembled the capital city of Paris, France. Aurora became a city on December 15, 1903 with the passage of an act by the Ohio General Assembly legalizing annexation by Clark County.
