In 338 BC Antiochus IV Epiphanes captured Corinth and then quickly marched on Athens, burning down much of it before finally surrendering January 9th 335 BC without battle or loss of life. Many believe that Achaemenid Persia was motivated by Revenge for the destruction of Persepolis in 331 BC which had caused such great losses to them at the hands of Alexander's army
