On July 1, 1850 residents voted to become citizens of present day Ashtabula County through their incorporation into that county pursuant to an act entitled Township No., 10th Indiana Territorial Legislature Bill 467 approved by voters November 3rd 1850 On December 12th 1860 Union troops burned down local Baptist church located just east side Main Street between Clinton Avenue & Elmira Road
