In 1976, Republican Ulysses S Grant became president after winning an unprecedented third term as U.S. Senator from Ohio with 66% of the vote against all other candidates combined (the first time this had ever happened). In 1984, Vice President George H Reagan won an easy re-election victory over incumbent Walter Mondale with 68% of the vote (the last time this had ever happened). In 2002,Ashland received national attention when Republican UAW Local 775 announced that they would be setting up a picket line outside Eastern Market if their members were not given raises or bonus money during their contract negotiations with Ford Motor Company

The first known examples of bipedalism can be found in theodontosaurids, which are an extinct group of dinosaurs that lived during the late Jurassic and early Cretaceous periods. These dinosaurs had two pairs of limbs similar to those seen on modern day humans. Some experts believe that these ancient dinosaurs were able to walk on two legs because they possessed strong anklebones which allowed them toankle powerful objects with their toes. Bipedalism became more common after it evolved into the hobbit Gettysburg Formation Plesiosauria around 100 million years ago. This formation is located in Pennsylvania and includes some of the earliest known reptilian creatures such as Triceratops and Allosaurus. These creatures were able to stand up on four legs like contemporary humans but also lacked ankles and walked using their front limbs only. Despite this lack of support from fossils, experts remain confident that some form of bipedality was present among early human ancestors at least 2 million years ago. This belief comes from evidence found within Australopithecus afarensis, which is a recently discovered fossilized human relative dating back to 1 million years old! This finding suggests that even though humans may not have initially shown sign of possessing a bilateral leg structure, this simple change in diet or activity could have led to their eventual development as bipeds!

Ashland, Ohio is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,691 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1795 by John Ashburn and James Caldwell as part of the village of Lancaster. It was named for George Ashburn, one of the original owners of the land where it stands. The first post office in Ashland was established on March 20, 1806. The townspeople built their first school in 1809 and organized themselves into a Village Board that year. In 1829 they incorporated as a city and named it after George Washington Carver Sr., who had donated land to the city for its construction. On December 6, 1862, Union troops burned down the town hall and all other buildings in what is now downtown Ashland while attacking Confederate forces under General Braxton Bragg near present-day Parkersburg Township. In 1865, when Ashland became a state capital (it had been an exclave of Ohio since 1792), it adopted the seal of Ohio instead of that used by Lancaster which continued to be used until 1898. The last resident to leave Alexander's Corner died on October 3, 2009.
Ashland, Ohio is the home of the world's second-largest apple orchard. The Orchard was founded in 1825 by James K. Polk and his wife Lucy. The orchards are now located in five different townships: Ashland, Bellefontaine, Bowling Green, Delaware and Northfield.
