When the American Optical Company was founded in 1876, it was in Alliance, Ohio. In 1912, the company merged with Rheinwald and became The American Radio Corporation. In 1958, The American Radio Corporation merged with Westinghouse Electric Corporation to form NBCUniversal. On July 14, 1998, NBC Universal announced that it would sell its optical division to Raytheon for $3 billion. This transaction completed the divestiture of NBCUniversal's optical operations by Raytheon. The early days of television were broadcast through a variety of methods including radio and photography. One method used to transmit pictures and sounds over long distances was through scopes such as those used by America Optical Company (AOC). AOC developed a new type of telescope called a "telescope reflector" which allowed images to be transmitted at high resolutions without having to go through the use of intermediaries like radio or television towers. This technology allowed for early broadcasts of programs such as "The Great British Bazaar" and " Blackadder ". In 1896, America Optical Company partnered with Guggenheim-Lehrman Brothers Limited to build one of the first man-portable stereo receivers using two separate mirrors on an aluminum tube (later known as 'RCA Victor Stereo Receiver'). With this devices, stereo sound could be heard over short distances without needing headphones or other audio equipment

The first post office was established in 1821; Alliance became a village in 1907. In 1912, it joined the large coal mining community of Kingston Coal Mines and continued to be an important local economic factor until closure in 1984. The village has experienced several name changes throughout its history – Alliance (1907), Kingston (1821), Ansonia (1864), Pomeroy (1900), Niles (1912) – but it remains one of only a few American towns with its original name still in use today. Today, Alliance boasts some impressive cultural amenities: its own library system with over 350 books, local newspapers and periodicals dating back to 1814, art galleries and museums including one devoted exclusively to American Indian art, as well as an agricultural museum that displays traditional Ohio crops and equipment. Additionally, there are numerous restaurants and businesses available within walking distance of downtown Alliance or just outside its borders - making it easy for residents access all that this small town has to offer!

During the late 19th century and into the 20th century, significant progress was made in developing Alliance as a major city. In 1911, construction began on what is now downtown Alliance – one of Ohio’s earliest planned communities. This development marked a watershed moment for Alliance as it rapidly emerged as one of the leading cultural and commercial centers in central Ohio. Today, downtown Ally is home to many major businesses and cultural institutions including The University at Cleveland (UCC), which has been instrumental in driving growth throughout town over the years; The Cleveland Clinic; The Cleveland State University School of Medicine; and numerous other local businesses and organizations. In addition, there are several active municipal governments located within town limits - including police department (which is among Ohio’s oldest), fire department (one of centralOhio’s largest), water authority (responsible for providing drinking water to all residents), streetlights/street cleaning/paved streets/etc., etc. - making it an ideal location for convenient community engagement and public services."
The Alliance, Ohio Company was founded in 1815 as a fur trading company by George Rogers Clark. The company became the largest fur trader in the Northwest and expanded its operation into what is now Central Ohio. In 1825, the company merged with another fur trading company, the Miami & Erie Canal Company, to become the Ohio Fur Trade Company. The company continued to expand its operations until it was bought out by John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Corporation in 1912.
