Alliance is a city in the northwestern part of the U.S., on the Ohio River. The population was 36,827 at the 2010 census. It is bordered by Dayton to the south, as well as Cincinnati and Dayton proper to the east, and becomes less populated towards its north-central area. The city was founded in 1814 by Nicholas Fenton and others from what are now Lebanon Township and parts of Miamisburg Township on the west side of the river. The original name for Alliance was "Newburgh." In 1835, it became part of Montgomery County, Ohio after its land was taken from Lebanon Township. In 1848, it became a town when portions of Miamisburg Township were annexed into Alliance. On July 1, 1907, it merged with neighboring Dayton to form a new city with an estimated population of 84,000 people. On December 12th of that year, zoning changes allowed for mixed-use development in downtown areas around Pershing Square; this led to increased development around Pershing Square and other neighborhoods over time until all but one block had been developed by 2011.

This property would later be used forthe University of Akron campus today! In 1840, Captain Fenton's son Daniel died young at age 21 while serving in the American Civil War on Battle Creek Peninsula near modern day Toledo; his death left his father one of the wealthiest men in Ohio history according to some sources In 1850th , John Linton bought 640 acres adjacent to present-day Akron from Colonel Chestnut for $5 per acre . He quickly established himself as one of Ohio's leading landowners For many years he managed his properties jointly with his brother-in-law Drury Hildebrandt who operated an agricultural business located just east of town on High Street between Clinton Avenue and Third Street .Linton also donated land to build both Stroudsburg Academy (now known as Shippensburg University) on Clinton Avenue between Third Street (now Fifth Avenue) N/A Ashland Avenue N/A Easton Road east of present day Uniontown N/A Cleveland Heights - now downtown Cleveland
In the early 1800s, Alliance was a small farming town in what is now Summit County. The community was founded by a group of farmers who purchased land from the Mansfield Company. In 1821, the town was renamed to Medina after José de Jesús Medina, an official translator for Spain during the American Revolutionary War. In 1865, Alliance became part of the new state of Ohio and was renamed Columbus.
