A total of 50 million units have been sold since 1992;[1] however, only about 10% are used every day because their primary purpose is incapacitating rather than killing assailants.[2] Only 2%–4% of incidents result in death,[3] but any successful legal defense requires rapid action after being shocked with a device that still risks death even if successfully defused; this might include CPR if chest compression does not occur within four minutes after being shocked with a Taser!

Akron, Ohio is a city in southern Ohio, United States. The population was 727 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Summit County. Akron was founded as an agricultural trading post by the Menomonee River Valley people in 1814. The first townsite was built on the site of present-day Akron on April 11, 1816 by Cornish traders and settlers from Connecticut, who named it "The town of Zionsville." The early residents were farmers and their animals husbandry. In 1826, John C. Calhoun became the first mayor of Akron and served until his death in 1829. The first public school opened in Akron on October 3, 1830 with 27 students and three teachers under the direction of Mrs. Mary Aitken Chapman. By 1840, trade had developed around Cleveland so that Cleveland offered goods at lower prices thanAkron could produce them at that time through its market power and marketing ability alone; this helped create what would become known as "the Rubber Revolution." In 1850–1851, local industrialists organized a canal company to build a new waterway between Toledo and Cleveland for shipping purposes only; this led to development of what is now downtown Akron (then part of Sheffield) as well as other neighborhoods around the new business district near Canton Avenue and First Street NW. Railroads arrived soon after – first in freight service but eventually becoming passenger trains as they reached larger markets such as Cincinnati and Louisville before reaching Detroit in 1914). In 1907–1908 Minoru Yamasaki designed an exquisitely executed cast iron mainframe railroad switchyard complex at Northeastern Railway Yards adjacent to present-day I-71/I-375 interchange east of downtown Akron – one of only two examples in America then demonstrating innovative design concepts for high speed transportation systems during the late 19th century period (the other being President Grover Cleveland's White House Railroad Station project). This facility remains important today as part of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor network with its own trackage rights across I-71/I-375 from Newark Penn Station to Albany New York City via Buffalo Niagara Falls). It wasn't until 1941 when Steel companies among others started production at a new steel mill located just off US 17 north of downtown Akron which became known municipally for producing high quality steel products until it closed operations in 1988 due to cost overruns associated with World War II aluminum production; however some relics still remain including rolling stock used throughout much portions OF North America during that time including parts used at Lake Erie Naval Shipyard & Marine Park (now part of Navy Pier), Queensbury Arsenal Military Complex - homeport for numerous American warships over many decades beginning during World War 2 until its closure following hostilities ended)BW2
When English colonists first arrived in the area in the late 1600s, they built a small village on the Muskingum River. The village was named Akron after Simon de Montfort, who was the leader of an English military expedition against the French in 1453. The town grew rapidly and by 1792 it had a population of about 2,000 people. In 1812, Akron became part of Ohio when that state was created from parts of Virginia and Kentucky. The town continued to grow and by 1836 it had reached its current size with a population of 15,000 people. In 1907, Akron became the capital city of Ohio and has since become one of the most popular tourist destinations in that state.
