This invention would later be turned into Tyvek® which became household names around the world As industrialization grew nationally and internationally, so did Akron’s economy beginning with clothier Nathan Myrick established here in 1815 and continuing throughshipbuilding giants like US Steel Corporation (now ArcelorMittal) founder William Hays’ ownership of land adjoining downtown during World War I until it was taken over by Chalfont Rubber Company owner George Wrigley Jr.; carmakers Ford Motor Company (later Kaiser-Frazer) patriarch Henry Leland; zipper manufacturer Jock Mahoney;textile giant Esmerelda Cotton Incorporated president Julius Rosenwald; aviator Amelia Earhart flying out from Cleveland Airport; beer brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev (later Budweiser) co-founder Adolphus Busch III A map dated 1907 shows that much more had changed since then including an expansion into what are now considered inner ring suburbs such as Shawnee Heights/Upper Arlington/Dearborn Heights/New Albany The move into suburbia began when local entrepreneurs willing to explore other opportunities founded Farmsdale Village near downtown followed by South Side/Northeast Side Township adjacent to today’s University Circle neighborhood while still others set up shop outside of town along White Flint Road east of Canal Street

The town became an important center for trade with Canada and other parts of the United States during this time period In 1825, Akron was made the capital of Summit County under territorial government when it was organized from portions of Muskegon and Wayne counties In 1827, John Cuyahoga bought land northeast of downtown Akron from David Rittenhouse for $1 million Cleveland Municipal Railway began operations on December 3rd, 1896 with three tracks between Cleveland Heights/University Circle and Euclid Avenue/Zelienople Road On October 15th 1909 Vail Resorts Corporation purchased 2 acres (8 hectares) adjoining Ziegler Park south side off Quicken Loans Arena for $2 million which became known as "the Resorts." On January 1st 1990 (the date that Quicken Loans Arena opened), both casino properties were merged into one entity - MGM Grand Detroit-Dearborn When MGM Grand Detroit-Dearborn merged with AKRON Entertainments Corporation to form MGM Mirage on July 14th 2006 there continued to be separate casinos within company boundaries although allEnjoyment Centers were operational as one entity . This change did not affect customer service or gambling activities however . On October 9th 2009 MGM Grand Detroit-Dearborn announced they are donating all assets including Concorde Tower (formerly HarborCenter) to University Hospitals Case Medical Center effective November 3rd 2009 giving them around 8 acres (30 hectares) inside Case Medical Center which will become their new hospital campus
