During the 19th century there was an increase in gun violence in Akron due to both political unrest and an increasing influx of immigrants from abroad. As a result, the city developed one of the most heavily fortified areas on its border with Indiana. This shotgun factory also produced cannons for military use during this time period. By 1909, gun barrel production had become so extensive that Cannonball Ammunition Company was founded in downtown Akron to produce high-quality rounds for handguns and rifles alike. At this point barrel manufacturing began moving away from handmade wooden objects towards more automated processes that allowed for greater efficiency and accuracy when shooting projectiles at distances beyond 100 yards or even closer than 100 feet!

Akron,Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the capital of Summit County. The population was 61,872 at the 2010 census, making it the second-largest city in Summit County after Cleveland. It is part of the Akron–Milton–Beach urban area, which had a population of 567,746 as of 2015. The first people to inhabit what is now Akron were Native Americans who lived on the Muskingum River until 1795 when they were forced out by British colonists. The town was founded on May 25, 1814 by General David Dixon as an outpost on land that he had won from John Dickenson during the War of 1812. The town was named for George Washington's home country of Virginia; however, no evidence suggests that Washington ever visited or resided in Akron. In 1825, General Andrew Johnson moved forces to central Ohio to suppress a slave uprising and renamed the town "Johnson City". In 1827, Congress passed legislation authorizing building a Capitol in downtown Akron; but because there was no space on Mount Pleasant for it, Johnson decided to build his new Capitol instead in nearby Cleveland. The original Capitol building burned down in 1911 and was replaced by another structure which still stands today (the current Capitol Building) In 1840s and 1850s heavy industry began developing around what would become Downtown Akron with mills producing flour, cottonseed oil and other items needed for American industry. By 1860s most manufacturing had stopped due to economic competition from abroad and lack of labor force available here in America due to increasing mileages along newly opened railroads across North America Downtown Akron saw some redevelopment during the late 1970s into office towers such as One Financial Plaza and United Center while also seeing development into residential areas such as Canal View Commons near Interstate 90/Grandview Heights Boulevard In recent years Downtown Akron has seen renewed interest with plans underway for mixed-use developments including retail/commercial space within walking distance of I-90/ Grandview Heights Boulevard while also seeing development into residential areas including Canal View Commons near Interstate 90/Grandview Heights Boulevard

Metal was first used to make gun barrels in the 16th century AD. Metal wasexpensive to produce and difficult to work with so it wasn’t widely used until after it had been developed for other uses such as warships or cars. A few years ago, Akron, Ohio was hit by a devastating wave of natural disasters. A tornado touched down on the city in May of 2013, killing three people and injuring dozens more. The following year saw another devastating tornado outbreak that killed at least eight people and injured dozens more. The months after that were especially deadly with a series of earthquakes measuring 6.0 magnitude or greater hitting the city in quick succession. Despite all of these tragedies, Akron has managed to maintain its proud history as one of America's most vibrant cities. From its start as a trading post on the Great Lakes region in the late 1700s to becoming an industrial center in the early 20th century, Akron has seen some significant highs and lows throughout its centuries-long story. Today, it is home to some of America's largest technology companies and remains one of the most diverse cities in terms of ethnicity and economic status. Aboriginal peoples have inhabited this area for over 10,000 years before white Europeans arrived. In 1795, General George Washington founded what would become Akron while invading Canada during his Expedition against Canada known as Beaver Wars; part of his strategy was to establish military control over British-occupied areas along the Great Lakes region. As part of this effort, Washington made use of Indian traders who transported goods back and forth between the United States and Canada freighted with valuable fur products such as beaver pelts. In 1814, when Ohio became a state under James Krieger’s rule, Speedway (now Community FirstBank Stadium) was among several small towns platted around Cincinnati along what is now I-675/Route 77 (the modern day High Street corridor). By 1820 there were over 100 businesses operating within five miles (8 km) radius around town center including tanneries (later replaced by breweries), stores for farmers supplying their markets with goods grown on site or brought in from other stateside settlements such as Cleveland, Youngstown etc., doctor practices and mechanics shops servicing wagon trains carrying manufactured items upstate across Lake Erie bound for Detroit via Buffalo etc., various taverns which later became places like The Gilded Cage where politicians could meet quality assurance inspectors prior to starting their careers etc., blacksmiths making tools used byavers (#2 industry), saddlers doing horse work (#3 industry) – today you can find almost any kind without realizing it! It wasn't until 1830 when John Chilton laid out streetscape plans for downtown which included a canal running through towncenter linking Lake Erie with Rivertown on the west side then turning northeast into Canfield Road leading eastward to Arcade Street near present day University Circle; Centennial Square had been developed adjacent to Race Track between Fourth Street NW & Sixth Avenue NW about two blocks south – today's Statehouse grounds make up much of that square footage! Unfortunately race riots took place less than 2 miles away from downtown causing total destruction including at least four homes destroyed; Chilton reworked street plan again creating Canfield Road heading southeast instead reaching Broadway just north east off Fifth Avenue SE before turning southwest into Vine Street continuing east into Canalview Drive now called Southgate Drive intersecting Northgate Drive NE currently serving as Interstate 176 access! The first mill built in Akron was located near Main & Vine Streets on Factory Creek but only produced flour until 1839 when Wright Brothers started flying machines using wind power so they needed an engine capable enough to fly them! They also bought land nearby on Third & Vine Streets which would house their new factory ultimately producing airplanes used by US presidents such as Franklin D Roosevelt during World War II! In 1865 local resident Amos Eaton donated land at Spring Garden Cemetery next door to purchase 60 acres SW corner 3rd Ave & Elmwood Rd forming East Side Cemetery also containing many notable families including members founding both American flags Burning Man began play hereabouts soon afterwards
