In 1916, Fargo hosted the first international fair in North Dakota; this fair drew attention to the state and helpedrouse interest in growing industry within Fargo. Additionally, West Fargo State College relocated from Thief River Falls to downtown Fargo in 1951 which allowed for more students to attend college without having to leave their homes or communities. Finally, with advances in technology beginning to become prevalent throughout society, development began happening throughout downtown areas such as Southside Mall and East Side Park which have since replaced olderStreets with high-rise buildings while preserving much of what made these districts unique.
