The Hennepin County Courthouse was built in 1907 on what would later become downtown West Fargo and it still stands today as one of the most recognizable structures in town. In 1912 VFW Post #521 was chartered as the first college fraternity west of the Mississippi River with thirty members; it later grew into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity which now dominates campus life at University of North Dakota from its location on Main Street across from Valley View Elementary School until dedication of their new headquarters 7th Ave NW in 2006. In 1930 WCFD began broadcasting live over short wave radio for citizens living outside of Fargo who could not receive television or radios directly; this led to development of commercial FM radio services which continue to this day both inside and outside of town limits with over 90 stations statewide including 10 licensed within West Fargo limits! A local ordinance passed May 12, 1916 established a street system within town limits with north being southbound Shield Boulevard while east/west Center Avenue ran parallel to Shields Boulevard heading out towards Dickinson AFB then turning east again before coming back southbound along Shields Boulevard past downtown whereupon crossing US Highway 58 just north of town line before continuing northeast through farmland until reaching an intersection withOld Dutch Road near present day Curlew Lake which served as an airfield during World War II until automated teller machines replaced all fighter planes there!
