Minot is a city in North Dakota, United States. The population was 15,898 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Dickinson County. Other notable buildings and structures include: The Stonewall Inn (now a museum), which served as headquarters for local activists during the 1968 Ulysses S Grant presidential campaign; First Methodist Church (built 1888); courthouse (1892), which burned down in 2001 but was rebuilt following a $30 million donation from billionaire John Drexler; also known as "The White House" due to its resemblance to that structure on Capitol Hill; home of North Dakota State University's Department of Agricultural Sciences until 2009 when it moved into new facilities across the street from campus; Third Street Elementary School (built 1915); Depot Tower (a skyscraper completed in 1963), which contains offices space used by both state government agencies and GE's regional headquarters before being sold to another company; Donnelli arena (opened 1974) which hosted hockey games for Canada World Cup 1984 & 1988 while also serving as management headquarters for US Hockey League team Minnesota Swarm; Park Plaza Shopping Center (); downtown development (); various parks (); etc.). In recent years much progress has been made Downtown with infrastructure investment such as new Roads & Transit Authority bus terminals opening up new shopping precincts along 3rd Street South between Market & Walnut Streets - these have helped turn around declining business areas near Interstate 35E while providing new housing options within walking distance of restaurants, bars and other nightlife venues Downtown redevelopment began with renovation of portions of 2nd & 3rd Streets South between Market & Walnut Streets - these areas are now home to several high-end restaurants including Zuka BBQ&Brewery (), DNA Lounge (), 21c Museum Cafe (). Amongst other ambitious projects announced or under construction Downtown are: 1) The restoration/ rehabilitation/ build out of Pioneer Court adjacent thereto – this project will consist of replacing deteriorated sidewalks with asphalt sidewalks that will be illuminated at night utilizing LED lightsuniquely designed for this purpose – expect completion by Fall 2020 2) reconstruction/remodel/updates/renovations on portions surrounding SDOT Light Rail Station - this project will involve adding multiple levels underground Railroad tracks leading directly underneath Target Mall itself – expect completion sometime early 2021 3) addition / renovation / improvement / expansion / reinstatementofhistoric Nicollet County Courthouse - expected dedication date dependent upon funding availability – future projects planned or under consideration include an extensive restoration program that would restore original features including murals, plaster ceilinging etc.; 4) construction / replacementofvarious public works lighting systems throughout Downtown consisting primarily Of LED replacements only – anticipate initial implementation Spring 2021
