In 1947–48 local voters approved a $5 million bond issue for extensiveptr improvements to highways 509A & 509B which were completed in 1951 including new bridges over Crow River and Clearwater Creek; boulevard 10W between downtown MINOT & Airport; new library; new firehall; hospital building - all served by American Bus Lines

However new businesses have come into being over time due to new technology or an opening up opportunity in another community nearby
The city of Minot was founded in 1881 by a group of Minneapolis businessmen. The city grew quickly, and by 1902 it had reached its present size. In 1916, the United States government purchased land adjacent to the city for a munitions factory. The plant continued to produce munitions until 1997.
