The club changed its name to the Fargo Rifle and Pistol Club in 1949. The rifle club disbanded in 1978.
Jamestown is a small town in North Dakota, United States. The population was 597 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Fargo-Moorhead, ND Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1854 by Andrew Carnegie and named for James Monckton, 1st Viscount Monckton of Breda, who had purchased land east of Fort Snelling in 1845. By 1860, Jamestown had a blacksmith shop, store, schoolhouse, and two churches. In 1865 Rockefeller bought some land from John Dennison to form what would become Rockefeller Center; Jamestown became one of his many properties in North Dakota. In the late 19th century Jamestown experienced growth as a railroad town; it became known for its logging industry and timberlands that were used for roadbuilding and other purposes. However, during World War I jamestOWN residents served in draftees or military forces throughout the war effort; this led to increased tourism and economic development within the community after the war ended. By 1930 Jamestown had a post office (the first in North Dakota), a bakery (the first in the state), three banks (the first chartered banks in North Dakota), four hotels (the first licensed hotel chain in North Dakota), six grocery stores (the first statewide grocery store chain in North Dakota), two radio stations (NBC affiliate KFBO-AM and ABC affiliate KTVQ-FM both owned by Teletronics Corporation based out of Minneapolis/St Paul), two schools (grades K-12) with an enrollment of over 2200 students total; as well as numerous businesses such as coal mines operated by Eastern Coal Company which employed up to 100 locals at any given time during those years. However by 1945 most all economic activity within the community had ceased due to World War II bombing raids that destroyed much of downtown Fargo along with much surrounding farmland; only one business reopened after 1945: The Globe Bakery which reopened under new ownership less than one year later when General Electric acquired it from owner Rheingold Paper Products Corporation In 1951 GEC merged with American Telephone & Telegraph Company creating GEICO which continued operations until 1992 when it was spun off into Time Warner Incorporated
