Wilson is a small town located in Moore County, North Carolina. The population was 1,563 at the 2010 census. Wilson is home to the Wilson Academy of Fine Arts which offers art classes for children and adults. The school also has a library which includes an ARTS collection as well as reference materials on artists and their work. Wilson was founded in 1868 by General Edmund Penderick Johnston and his wife Anna Maria. The Johnston family had been living in the area since 1792 when they moved from Augusta, Georgia to what is now Moore County. In 1868, General Johnston donated land to the town for development and named it after himself, Edward Penderick Johnston (1787-1872). In 1907, Wilson became one of twelve towns in North Carolina that voted to annex Moore County. In 1912, Wilson became a city and was renamed after President Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924). The city was reincorporated as a village in 1968. While downtown Wilson remains the only major center of commerce and culture within the village limits today, other areas have developed over time including farmland outside of town on which businesses are based; Crossville Airport; Springdale Dam; an information technology park adjacent to High Point University; along Interstate 85 just south of town near exit 20A; and several dozen homes scattered throughout small rural communities within easy driving range of townspeople who continue to serve as its core community spirit boosters. Wilson’s proximity to Asheville allowed for growth in arts and cultural events not only here but also across Buncombe County – often resulting in large crowds descending upon our tiny little burg during touring/festival season – something we take great pride in! Our vibrant downtown district remains one of my favorite places ever! Yes folks even “Wonka” came out from behind her hiding place once again last year during Craftacular Weekend! Silly girl 😃

These matches helped spread awareness about airguns among gun enthusiasts across the country, and eventually led to more people being interested in these devices as weapons themselves. In 1978, NRA sponsored its first international competition where shooters from 20 different countries competed against each other in various disciplines.
