It was located on Main Street and operated until 1971. In 1865, Confederate General Robert Ewell built a gunsmith shop on Elmwood Avenue in Weddington. The shop continued to operate until it was destroyed by Union forces during the Civil War. After the Civil War,Weddington began to grow as a gunnery town. In 1892, A&M Arms company opened a rifle factory in town and produced firearms for both domestic and export markets. In 1903, JB Weld Incorporated opened a welding studio in Weddington that would become one of the most renowned welding studios of its time. welded products from this laboratory continue to be popular today through their brand name “Weld-O-Matic” products. The next year saw the opening of another prominent gun dealership called Armoury Firearms Company which became one of the largest dealerships in North Carolina with locations throughout Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Winston Salem and other cities across the state. Whitney became the first person to shoot a gun in Weddington when he bought one from John Hite. In 1876, Wm Fenton acquired a rifle and pistol shop on High Street and began manufacturing firearms for Weddington residents and businesses. A post office was established in Weddington in 1878 and continued operation until it closed in 1902. Weddington is a small town in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,895 at the 2010 census. Weddington is part of the Raleigh–Durham metropolitan area. The first settler in Weddington was Levi Coffin in 1794. A post office was established here in 1811 and remained in operation until 1865. The first store opened in 1816 and the first school also opened in 1816. In 1830, two churches were built here: the Baptist Church and First Methodist Episcopal Church. Weddington State School was founded here in 1902 and remains operational today as a four-year high school. Weddington has several important infrastructure projects under way including a new $5 million library which will open in Fall 2017 and replace an aging facility; a new $1 million community policing center; a $2 million campaign to improve sidewalks and street lighting; and a project to resurface roadways throughout the town with granite chips to reduce traffic congestion.

In 18th century Europe, many people began using firearms for hunting because it was now easier than ever before to get hold of high-quality animals thanks to advances in technology such as artillery Abraham Lincoln’s famous speech on “The Right To Bear Arms” in 1864 during his bid for office showed how important gun ownership was at this point in history. Firearms became even more popular after Native American wars ended which allowed white men access to new areas without fear of being attacked by their former allies. With improved transportation methods such as trains and automobiles, more people started buying firearms which led to increased demand for these Weapons throughout history

The first black person to live in Weddington was Cephus Sinks during the early years of Reconstruction. Weddington is located on the Yadkin River and takes its name from the river's overflow dam which created the town.
On Weddington, North Carolina the first white settler was James Robertson who arrived in 1736. The town of Weddington was established in 1738 and named after Robertson.
