In addition to its much publicized events such as world championships baseball or basketball games played at PNC Park or concerts held at Freedom Hall, Waynesville has been known for its agricultural production since before there were any farms hereabouts. Many farmers here produced corn crops such as Thompson’s Bushels/ Acres distributed throughout central NC., hay for horse feed/ lambs for clothes/ swineonds for market value etc.; sweet potatoes; beans; peas; tobacco; cottonseed oil etc.--all with great profit to early settlers!
