Gun parts have been a part of the community for centuries and there are many different types of firearms that can be found here. The first firearms to be used in North Carolina were Native American rifles, which was likely made from obsidian or other hard rocks. There are also mentions of handguns in records from the early 1800s. The state rifle regulations were passed in 1876 and required all gun owners to register their rifles with the government. This regulation led to the proliferation of handgun ownership in North Carolina and it is still an important part of its culture today. In addition to registering handguns, any person who possessed a revolver or shotgun must also have a permit from the local police department. From 1903-1925, shotguns were only allowed to be possessed by women over the age of 21 years old and men could not own them without a father’s permission. After 1920, shotguns became available for purchase by all citizens regardless of gender. In 1961, North Carolina became one of 15 states that joined the United States into the National Rifle Association (NRA). As part of this membership, NRA restrictions on gun sales began to fall and firearm laws throughout the state changed accordingly. During this time period Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) began manufacturing firearms in rural Davidson County outside Charlotteville while Samford Firearms manufactured pistols within Charlotteville itself using former Confederate armaments production facilities nearby known as “Piney woods Arsenal”. At this point North Carolina had two major arms manufacturers; Winchester and Samford Ammo plants but both companies faced competition from Colt Manufacturing Company (Colt), which had entered into business in 1911 as America’s first manufacturer of pistols under license for military use under General Pershing’s American Expeditionary Force during World War I . Colt licensed production continued until 1934 when company merged with Remington Firearms Corporation . By 1938 most gun manufacturers had exited NC because of anti-gun sentiment following passage of new federal legislation barring importation/export OF weapons without due process requirements . Many NC gunmakers relocated their operations out west where wages were higher and access to raw materials more open

Washington is a town in Randolph County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh–Durham metropolitan area. The town was platted on December 12, 1868 by General James Longstreet and James Mosely, both Confederate veterans and residents of nearby Lenoir City. The first store in Washington opened its doors on February 15, 1870. In 1872 Washington became one of the two towns in Randolph County when Mooreville merged with Lexington to form that county's second city. Washington remained an unincorporated community until 1918 when it became a part of the larger town of Cary. In 1922 Washington annexed what had been Loudon Springs from neighboring Clayton County. A post office called Washington was established at this location on October 6, 1871, and served until November 25, 1907; it was replaced by the current post office named Cary after then-Governor Tryon Watkins Cary (1861-1922). In 1911 Washington had a population of 3 people; in 1916 it had 2 people; and in 1930 it had 2 people again. The population increased rapidly during World War II as many farmers moved into the area to work in munitions plants or service war efforts localand abroad: by 1940 there were 10 inhabitants living in what was then an agricultural community composed mostly of small farmssteads surrounded by woods or dune fields suitable for hunting andshooters' matches only; within twenty years all but one farm had disappeared leaving behind only few acres now used for housing development: today’s main shopping center contains more than 130 stores including well over 50 banks branches) . By1970the village contained about 2000 citizens living mainly within several dozen homes built since World War II around large commercial complexes which have since been replaced by single family dwellings throughout much most recently being characterized as gated communities complete with private schools,. Washington was founded in 1776 by George Washington and his fellow Americans. The town was named for the general, but it is also known as Mount Vernon because of the many slaves who were brought from Africa to work on the plantation that America's first president, George Washington owned. The town grew rapidly due to its natural resources and its location on a strategic trading route between North Carolina and Virginia. In 1819, Washington was given land adjoining Raleigh to make up for what he perceived as unfair treatment by John Brown, an American abolitionist leader who had unsuccessfully attacked a U.S. military installation in Harper's Ferry, Virginia. After Northern Carolina won equal representation in the United States Congress with South Carolina in 1865, Washington became one of the state's most influential citizens. He died at age 94 years on May 12th, 1868, just before Raleigh could award him a pension that would have entitled him to live indefinitely in the city he so greatly loved.
Washington was the capital of the United States from 1791 to 1800. It was then moved to Richmond, Virginia, before returning to Washington in 1801. The capital changed again in 1849, whenCharleston became the new capital.
