In 1903, Wake Forest University changed its name to Wakefield School of Medicine and Health Sciences after merging with three other medical schools within the State of North Carolina: Davidson School of Veterinary Medicine; Catawba School of Nursing; and Randolph-Macon Woman's Medical Center! When these schools merged their programs were combined into one operation which became known as “Wakefield School of Medicine”! In 1954, Presbyterian Hospital joined forces with Wakefield School of Medicine as well forming what would eventually become one of America’s largest healthcare providers! Today, WakeforestUniversity has over 190 affiliated hospitals worldwide!
