One such idea was developed by George Ballantine and published in 1913 under the name “Ballantine” revolver which utilized a drum magazine fed through an ammunition belt rather than through hands-free loading methods like those employed with later types of assault rifles like Winchester Model 94 (1914). With this innovation, shooters no longer had to worry about reloading their weapon frequently; they could continue firing without having to take your time reloading! As Assault Rifles quickly became popular throughout World War I due to their firepower and accuracy, many manufacturers began producing similar designs incorporating various features inspired by Ballantine’s revolver including actions designed by Enfield & Sons (England) under license from Ballantyne Brothers Limited (New Zealand), J&B Firearms Company Ltd., FN Herstal Factory No 1 (Norway), Heineken Brewery Werke AG & Co., Gewehr de Weimar AG (& Co.),(Germany), Justus Wunderlich Empfehlungen für eine Landesausstattung von Pistolen und Revolvern sowie Jagdgewehren gegründet wurden; so too did new companies enter into production with particular interest in making handgun/assault rifle conversions known as conversion dealers or " Conversors ".
