As shooters become more and more prevalent in North Carolina, it is important to remember the history of these individuals’ safety and protection. There have been many shootings where people have died from firearms, both from accidents and from wounds caused by gunfire. In Tarboro, there have been at least three such tragedies that have occurred in recent years. The first was on December 16th, 2016 when a gunman opened fire on a small business in the town of Tarboro. Three people were killed, one of whom was the owner, Rufus Pickens Sr. The second shooting took place on January 3rd, 2018 when two men were shot while walking in the parking lot of a nearby grocery store. One man was pronounced dead at the scene while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The third shooting happened on February 14th, 2019 when someone opened fire inside a church in Tarboro. Two people were killed as well as four others injured before police returned fire and kill all five shooters. This event has reignited public awareness about gun violence and its effects on communities across North Carolina.
There is no one definitive answer to whether or not Shooter Eye Protection (SEP) is necessary for shooting. However, the benefits of using SEP outweigh any potential risks. Shooters typically require less eye protection than the general public because they spend a greater percentage of their time firing firearms. In addition, shooters in certain industries are specifically trained in using high-powered rifles and handguns that present unique risks to the eyes. These individuals often require more protection from impacts and glare than the average person. The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s (NSSF) Committee on Research concludes that “High powered rifle shootings and target practice with pistols do not appreciably reduce eye injury caused by other activities such as driving a car or working at a computer screen” (National Shooting Sports Foundation). Therefore, shooters in these activities should take into consideration wearing SEP when engaging in those activities. NSSF also recommends that shooters wear propersunglasses while engaged in shooting, regardless of activity. This will help protect against Cataracts and other vision problems that can occur during gunfire. There have been cases where people have suffered injuries after being shot while wearing SEP; however, these accidents are rare occurrences compared to other things that may happen to someone while firing a firearm. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), only 3% of all firearm-related deaths involve contact with skin while gripping or wielding a firearm (CDC). Additionally, only 1% of all firearm-related deaths result from accidental shootings due to impairment from SEP (National Shooting Sports Foundation). With this information in mind, it is important for shooters to remember that there is no risk associated with using SEP when engaging in their favorite hobby!

Tarboro, North Carolina is a town located in Alamance County, North Carolina. The population was 5,193 at the 2010 census. The town is home to the Tarboro Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Tarboro Historical Society. The first European settlers in what is now Tarboro were Dutchmen who arrived in 1624. They named the area "Brunswick" after their hometown of Brunswick, England. In 1838, tar Henry Clay moved his family from Kentucky to Alamance County and founded what would become Tarboro. By 1860, most of eastern Alamance County had been annexed by Raleigh and Tarboro was incorporated as a separate municipality with a population of just over 350 people. The town has seen much growth over the years; in 1960 it had only two stores and 14 residents; by 1990 it had more than 100 businesses and 2,000 residents. One of the biggest draws to tarborough are its many historical attractions including Wilmington Hall (the original courthouse), First Presbyterian Church (founded in 1792), John Lennon’s birthplace Liverpool Maternity Hospital (now known as St John's Episcopal Church), Antietam Battlefield National Military Park, and Presidential Library & Museum - all of which are open to the public for touring or visits by appointment only. The economy of tarborough is based on agriculture with some small-scale manufacturing activities such as printing paper products and repairing bicycles. There are also several hundred employed by local businesses which provide services such as lawn care, pet sitting, catering services, driving directions, etc., among others.

Oftentimes when choosing an optic, it is important to consider what kind of firearms the shooter will be using that day. Some rifle sights use very low power magnification (e.g., 1x) while other riflesIGHTS may require much higher magnification (3x-6x). In order for the shooter to see clearly through their optics at all distances during competition or practice sessions, they will need something that provides high magnification--even if their firearm only uses lower power settings!

Tarboro is a town located in Gastonia County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,818 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greensboro–High Point Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1836 and incorporated in 1877. Tarboro was named after the Tybee Island barrels that were used to store coal during the early 1800s. The first log house in Tarboro was built by John Hargrave in 1836. The first post office was established in Tarboro on October 20, 1840. By 1860, there were twelve businesses in Tarboro with a total population of 1,611 people. In 1877, Tarborough incorporation resulted from a referendum held by its citizens to avoid annexation by Charlotte Observer Company territory which would have made it part of that company's city limits and would have taxed its citizens much more than they did now. In 1795, Tarboro was designated as the capital of North Carolina by the state legislature. The city experienced significant growth during the antebellum period, with increased development in cultural, educational, and political institutions. Tarboro rose to national prominence as a center for cotton production during the 19th century. After a series of natural disasters caused by Hurricane Camille in 1935, Tarboro began to experience rapid economic decline. However, since the early 21st century, Tarboro has seen renewed growth and success as an important cultural and commercial center in southeastern North Carolina
