Crouch served as a magistrate and justice of peace for Alamance County until his death in 1829. His son James then began operating the store which continued until 1860 when it was replaced by the present day courthouse building. In 1865, Confederate General Jubal Early attacked Union forces at Battle of Chancellorsville while retreating from Virginia after being driven from Yorktown following Appomattox Court House where he had been defeated by Ulysses S Grant that year. A large number of men and women died as a result of battle or injuries suffered during or subsequent aftermath such as Pickett's Charge which occurred two days later on April 9th near Manassas Junction along I-95 just outside Richmond, Virginia From 1865 through 1870 (and again from 1880–1890), tar pickup truck drivers couldload goods destined for Durham and Charlotte into Wilmington along I-95 west of Roanoke before continuing on Interstate 95 south to Raleigh; this allowed local farmers access to markets in those cities without having to go all the way down I-95 . Drivers would unload their cargo at various points around town before returning north on I-95 westward towards Salisbury where they unloaded their goods again before continuing on their route back eastward . This system gradually became less common over time due to increased competition from railroads but still exists today as a remnant artifact among many old photos and artifacts found throughout towns like Tarboro! In 1916, General Electric founded its new research center here and gradually grew into one of North Carolina's leading technology companies before selling it off to GE Business Services Americas Inc.$2 billion later in 2002 - making him one of the richest people in America at that time!
