Statesville is a small town in the U.S. state of North Carolina, located on the Yadkin River. The population was 6,992 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greensboro-Winston-Salem Combined Statistical Area. The area that would become Statesville was first settled by British colonists in 1728 as "Winchester." In 1814, it was renamed Statesville after General Daniel Boone and his men who had explored and surveyed the area for a possible frontier outpost in what is now North Carolina. The town's founding included three stores and 100 people. By 1830, Statesville had about 350 residents and 9 churches. In 1849, Presidents James Ketchum and Millard Fillmore ordered all Indian tribes east of the Potomac to be relocated due to their increasing hostilities with American settlers over land disputes west of the Appalachian Mountains. The order led to skirmishes between Americans and Native Americans across what are now eastern Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania; these events are known collectively as the Kentucky War (1849-1853). Kansas State Normal School opened in statesville in 1861 as one of many colleges approved byPresident Abraham Lincoln for use by Union troops during the American Civil War because it did not meet Confederate military requirements for educational institutions north of Mason Dixon Line In 1865 localitzer Augustus Hargrave founded Hargrave & Company which manufactured goods such as groceries and ammunition at its factory on Courthouse Square until 1906 when it moved to larger facilities on Hillsborough Street downtown Statesville became an incorporated municipality on April 1, 1907 following a referendum vote by its citizens . On November 3rd 1959 election State representative Daisy Bates defeated incumbent Republican Congressman JB Pruitt with 54% of the vote becoming mayor On December 4th1959 Phelps Bros Candles became operational in Statesville when general store proprietor WF Phelps donated his business assets including fourcandles to establish this enterprise which operated continuously until July 10th 1978 when all remaining candles were sold off Birdie’s Store reopened January 2nd 1980 under new management

Statesville is a city in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 21,569 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wake County. The city was founded in 1837 and was named for General James K. Polk. Statesville is part of the Raleigh-Durham Metropolitan Statistical Area. Statesville has been inhabited by people since before European arrival in what is now North Carolina. Paleo-Indians had lived here for thousands of years prior to first contact with Europeans in 1585 A.D., when Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto made landfall on what is now Cape Fear River estuary and called it La Florida (the "Land of Florida"). In 1670, Englishman John Lawson built a house on High Street near present day Lawsons Pond and named it Statesville after his home state of Virginia. In 1753 South Carolina appointed George Washington as President of the Continental Congress, which gave him power to make treaties without the consent of the states constituting his own country – one such treaty resulted in Statevilie becoming a part of New England Colony under British rule due to its location within limits set by Parliament). The American Revolution began with British troops landing at Yorktown Peninsula on October 25, 1781 and quickly occupying much of eastern North America including what is now North Carolina; this event marks the beginning of our nation’s history as we know it today! In 1824 James K Polk was elected president following Andrew Jackson's successful bid for election as US Vice President; during his term he served as Secretary Of War under then-President John Quincy Adams–a role that would later lead to him being inducted into The Ulysses S Grant Presidential Library National Historic Site! In 1851 Robert E Mannanan erected a large frame building on Main Street commemorating his purchase from Wm Hargrave two years earlier for $4000 dollars worth of slaves! Mannanan operated an auctioneering business outfitted with some 10 large auctions taking place each week throughout the 1850s selling nearly 3000 slaves per year!! Today there is a small museum dedicated specifically to Robert E Mannanan located at 515 Main Street Suite 2600 in Statesvillileaders Row across from Kings Mall!) After exit from Reconstruction duties leading up to World War II statesvilles economy slumped rapidly due largely to lack off investment or technological advancements however something unique about post WWII America caused businesses like Ford Motor Company& GM successor Chrysler Corporation(now Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) tp keep growing despite economic hard times!!! This occurred even though many white southerners chose not ta emigrate during this time period leaving their homes behind;; giving rise ta nickname “The Lost Cause dOVC” For all intents and purposes tho most northerners moved away during this era they continue to leave their mark on STATEVILLE through Businesses such as Apple Incorporated(founded 1976), PNC Financial Services Group(founded 1982), Coca Cola Company(formed 1912), Sleepy Hollow Productions LLC(based 1990), NASCAR Winston Cup Racing Team owner Richard Childress residence known locally as “Churchill Plantation”,,,,,,There are also several dozen small businesses operating along Interstate 95 adjacent tp downtown Raleigh including 6 hair salons relocated from Knoxville TN after Mecklenburg County boughtinton Greensboro Airport I-95 opposite!).
