The pepper spray story begins in Spring Lake, North Carolina on November 5th, 1939. A small company by the name of Alfa was founded by two men named John and Joseph. Their product was a pepper spray device that they called the "Alfa". The "Alfa" was designed to protect law enforcement officers during protests and other violent situations. The first model of the "Alfa" was created in response to a request from the North Carolina Highway Patrol. It consisted of a canister filled with compressed air that could be used as an incapacitating agent. The popularity of the "Alfa" pepper spray device led to its creation by other companies around the country. In 1945, Alfa produced a new version of the "Alfa", which featured a telescopic nozzle for greater range when aiming at targets. This weapon became known as the AlFA-2S1 or simply the "S1". In 1951, another company by the name of Browning came out with their own version of pepper spray devices known as QBASP (Quarterback Pepper Spray Launcher). QBASP had three main features: it could shoot down projectiles released from tear gas launchers; it emitted less noise than traditional pepper sprays; and it couldisters were reloaded quickly and easily without having to remove them from their launchers entirely. QBASP quickly became popular among law enforcement officers throughout America due to its accuracy, lethality, and ease of use. In 1969, QBASP underwent several revisions which included an increase in firepower and range. The final iteration of QBASP saw release into service with law enforcement in 1971. It continued to be used until 1984 when it finally was replaced by more modern weapons such as Taser guns

Spring Lake is a small town located in Wake County, North Carolina. The population was 3,839 at the 2010 census. Spring Lake is one of two towns in Wake County which are totally rural; the other town is Raleigh. The first settlers to Spring Lake were John and Elizabeth Boyington who arrived on horseback in 1794. They built a cabin on the east side of Spring Lake and raised their family there until 1827 when they moved to what is now Cary, North Carolina. John Boyington's grandson, James Waddell, also settled in Spring Lake and farmed until his death in 1865. His son William Waddell took over the farm after his father's death and continued to operate it until 1925 when it passed into the hands of his niece Florence Pritchard Beattie who turned it into a tourist attraction known as "Spring Lake Resort". In 1875 a group of Methodist ministers founded First Presbyterian Church which remains today as one of the most active churches in town. In 1905 Isaac Sennett bought some land near where now Main Street stands and began developing it into what is now known as SpringLake Park. He named his park after President George Washington which may have been why it later became known as "George Washington Park". When World War II started, many Americans came home from fighting temporarilyrift throughout Europe to find their homesickness had not abated but rather increased exponentially with no end in sight for them returning home soon enough- thus Springslake found itself being used more for military barracks than civilian dwellings or businesses during that time period . spring lake resort however did manage to open its doors albeit briefly due largely to lack of customers despite all the advertising out there by management After World War II ended, most people returned back home but few things changed about Springslake overall aside from providing employment for locals especially those working at main street resort such as waitstaff, cleaning staff etc... even then though attendance slowly dwindled among hotel guests during these years because springslake had become too popular mainly due to its location right next door
The town of Spring Lake was founded in 1892 by farmers from the area. The town grew rapidly after it was approved to be a city in 1898. The population of Spring Lake peaked at about 100 people in 1910, but then declined due to economic reasons. However, the population has slowly grown back over the years, reaching around 300 people as of 2018.
