Gun sights were first developed in Spring Lake, North Carolina in the early 1800s. These devices consisted of a lens and adjustable objective that allowed the shooter to adjust the viewpoint of their firearm so that it would point in a desired direction. The use of gun sights became popular due to their ease of use and the ability to accurately aim a firearm. One reason for this popularity was the increasing difficulty of hitting targets at long distances. Gun sights also became more accurate with time as technology improved. Today, many shooters rely ongun sights for target practice, precision shooting, and other recreational activities.
Gun sights are devices that allow shooters to better aim their firearms. They typically consist of an objective lens and a reticle, which the shooter uses to measure the distance between the object they are aiming at and the target. There are many different types of gun sights, including iron sights, reflex sights, electronic sights, and holographic sights. Iron sights are designed for use with rifles and pistols. The sight's objective lens is mounted on this armature and it is adjustable for elevation and windage. Electronic gunsights use digital signals to track movement within an image such as a crosshair or numerals on a screen. These gunsights usually have adjustable magnification levels so that shooters can adjust them according to their own needs. Holo-graphic sight technology presents a three-dimensional view of an object through an electronic window onto which users may place any number of objects (up to 10).

Spring Lake is a small, unassuming town in central North Carolina. It was founded in 1852 by General James Robertson and his wife, Sarah. The community was named for the natural spring that lay at its center. Today, Spring Lake is a quiet community of about 1,500 people who enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, and playing golf. The population of Spring Lake grew rapidly after World War II when development began around the nearby military installation known as Camp York. This area became prosperous thanks to manufacturing jobs in the local aluminum industry and other businesses that took advantage of the area's temperate climate. After years of growth and prosperity, however, much of this progress came to an end during the late 1990s when economic conditions deteriorated inapersistent with global trends. In 2000-2001 only a handful of residents remained in Spring Lake while most had departed for other towns or cities within commuting distance. Despite these negative developments, there are some positive aspects to life at SpringLake which include strong support system for local businesses; good access to education and health services; and wide variety of outdoor activities available including camping and hiking
Gun sights are a type of sighting device used on firearms to maintain aim. They are typically a circle or other simple design that is placed atop the barrel, and which allows the shooter to determine where the target will be in relation to the gun when it is aimed. The purpose of a gun sight is two-fold: first, it helps the shooter achieve accuracy by providing feedback on where the target should be relative to the weapon; second, it lets the shooter know how much distance separates his/her target from the firearm muzzle. The history of gun sights goes back at least as far as ancient Greece. In Classical Greece, there were no guns and thus no need for sights. However, there was an early form of crosshair known as a tachistoscope (Ταχιστοκρίτσες), which was used with bows and arrows to aim them accurately. This instrument consisted of two large circles that were connected by a short path between them, so that when onecircle was hit by an arrow travelling straight down its line created a V-shape depression in both circles - this allowed for accurate aiming even if one or both circles were off by several inches. In 1795, French artillery officer Jacques Conte designed and built what is now called "the modern"Gun Sight." It consisted of three main parts: an eyepiece (or objective), adjustable elevation angle (elevation locked) screwdriver ring on frame surrounding eyepiece; scale noting windage and elevation changes; stock bolt handle housing carrying all three parts together beneath black felt covering. The Gun Sight had been designed primarily for use with Martini-Henry rifles but proved successful enough with other types of firearms also that M1851 Navy rifle became standard issue in 1855. As technology advanced over time, new designs were invented forgun sights including periscopes (see below), Night Vision Goggles (NVGs), reflex sights and Reflex Tritium Night Vision Monoculars (RTNVM). The first gunsights were created in the 14th century. They were called "quadrants" and functioned as aiming markers for handguns and other firearms. In the 16th century, new sights were developed that allowed shooters to see the target more clearly than before. These sights were called " circles." In 1795, a new design was created that allowed shooters to see the target in three directions at once. This sight was called a "triangle."
Spring Lake is a small, unnamed natural body of water located in Wake County, North Carolina. It was first named by the surveyors who mapped the area in 1785 and it was also known as John's Creek. The name originated from John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. The creek formed at an elevation of about 350 feet (100 meters) below sea level and empties into Edgecombe County to the south. The creek has been used for fishing since before Europeans arrived in North Carolina. In 1801, a group of Englishmen charted its course and discovered a large salt lick near where Spring Lake now stands. They called the spot "Salt Lick." From this location, they took crops to Europe and sold them there. In 1828, Colonel Nathaniel Durham built present-day Durham Springs on land that he had purchased from Major General James Boswell Randolph. The springs were used to provide drinking water for his troops during the American Revolution. In 1865, when Confederate forces abandoned their positions around Raleigh during the siege of Petersburg, Spring Lake filled with runoff from nearby New Bern Hilltop Cemetery. This caused great flooding that destroyed many homes and businesses along its banks and forced residents to leave their properties for weeks on end. The floods also damaged much of downtown Raleigh and made it difficult for inhabitants to get food or goods necessary for their survival. Afterward, Governor Ramsey appointed a commission to investigate what had happened in Raleigh during the Civil War era. That commission recommended that SpringLake be renamed Cumberland River because it flowed through predominantly white counties in South Carolina while Raleigh was majority black; however, this proposal was never passed over by Congress.]
The first European to visit Spring Lake was a Dutchman, Abel Tasman, in 1624. In 1776, the Continental Congress passed the Northwest Ordinance which defined the boundaries of North Carolina. The Ordinance divided North Carolina into thirteen counties and named five of those counties Spring Lake County.
