From 1901-1912, John Wacoal Publications produced NRA ammunition magazines; from 1912-1914, Goodwin Publishing published GEny rifle mags; from 1914-1920, Colt Manufacturing Co., Inc., produced handgun magazines; and from 1920-1968, George Weiser Publicationsproduced rifle mags. After George Weiser Publications’ bankruptcy in 1968, all firearm magazine production ceased within North Carolina due to a lack of interest by subscribers and manufacturers alike. Although gun magazine production has stopped completely within North Carolina since 1968 (!), portions of the state have seen some resurgence in this activity as evidenced by recent productions at three newGun Magazines Inc locations: one located in Greensboro (opened December 1st 2017), one located near Charlotte (opened February 14th 2018) and one located just outside of Durham (opened October 27th 2018). In 1819, Spring Lake became a part of the new United States. The area was designated as a land grant to John Cranch by the North Carolina General Assembly on April 14, 1819. Cranch had been a captain in the Revolutionary War and was considered an early leader of the state. He served in both houses of the North Carolina legislature from 1792-1801 and also held various offices in the government of North Carolina. In 1819 he purchased 1,500 acres (500 ha) of land at Spring Lake from Colonel James Johnston for $1,000. The first settler on Spring Lake was Isaac Morse who arrived in 1824. Morse built a cabin on the north side of Spring Lake and started farming there. He later moved his family to what is now Huntersville and continued farming there until 1830 when he sold his interest inSpringLake to Joseph Sellers for $2,000. Sellers then developedthearea intoa major plantation center with plantations such as those at New Bern, Elizabeth City, Robeson County, Chapel Hill and Cary County being among the most prominent. In 1840 Union troops burned down many plantations around Raleigh after they were captured by Confederate forces during the Battle of Bull Run Bridge over Dan River
