Gun lasers were first mentioned in Smithfield, North Carolina in the 1800s. At that time, firearms were still mostly muzzle-loading pistols and rifles. As muzzleloaders became more sophisticated, they began to use percussion ignition guns thatfired a round of powder by firing a piece of metal off the barrel into the air. The round would detonate and create sparks which would ignite the powder in the gun’s magazine and fire it out of the barrel. These old-fashioned firearms were very dangerous to use because they could easily accidently discharge their rounds into people or other objects nearby. One solution to this problem was to develop gun lasers – cannons that fired projectiles instead of rounds of powder. Gun lasers were first designed and built in 1885 by George Stephenson at Small Heath Arsenal in England. The first successful gun laser was used against Confederate troops during the American Civil War. It was able to shoot a projectile with an incredible range of up to 125 miles! The popularity of gun lasers soon spread throughout Europe and Asia. By 1915, they had become common on battlefields all over World War I! From there, gun lasers quickly became popular among civilians as well – most notably in Japan during World War II! Gun lasers are still used today for various purposes such as target shooting, security filming, and artillery bombardment!

Smithfield is a small town in North Carolina, United States. The population was 3,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Durham-Carrboro Metropolitan Statistical Area. Smithfield is located on the Yadkin River, about 18 miles northeast of Chapel Hill and about 16 miles southwest of Durham. The first Europeans to visit what is now Smithfield were Native Americans who named it after a place in Virginia called "Watauga." The first Englishman to come to this area was Captain John Smith, who explored this land in 1585. He named the area Smithfield after his friend Sir Christopher Wren, then Master of Greenwich Hospital. In 1786, General James Moore led an army through North Carolina and marched into Greensboro County. He stopped at Watauga Creek while on his way south and ordered Colonel James Johnston to build him a fortification along the creek's edge which would become known as Moore's Fort. This fort served as Moore's Headquarters during the American Revolution and later became known as Fort Bragg. However, by 1800 only one house remained standing in town and most of the people had moved away or died from disease brought over by the newcomers. In 1801, some men from nearby Scots Fork decided to establish themselves as farmers there so they could better protect their villages against Indian raids that were happening on nearby Cherokee Nation lands east of where Smithfield currently stands. They started building their own homes around what is today downtown Smithfield using logs from oldMoore's Fort and other sites nearby for construction purposes only; they did not intend to stay long enough to start a permanent settlement thereabouts! 2 years later (1804), another group of Scots Fork settlers had moved into what would eventually be known as downtown Smithfield; these men had built a log cabin on land donated by local farmer James Hargrave closer to where they lived than where current day Market Street runs - just acrossfrom present day Halliburton Stadium! By 1806, Downtown Smithfield consisted of 9 buildings: 4 stores/cafés (the forerunners of modern-day convenience stores), 2 churches (both Baptist), 1 schoolhouse (later converted into apartments), and 1 privy with primitive plumbing facilities! The first store/café in downtown Smith field opened up shop in 1824 under name "New Market". It soon outgrew its original location and opened up several other locations throughout much of Durham until finally closing down in 1902 due largely to fires that destroyed most if not all its contents! The last store/café closed down in 1957 before becoming home once again (albeit temporarily) to Remington Arms Company until it too closedowns down circa 1990s amid competition from Lowe’s Home Builders Incorporated !! Throughout its history various businesses have either occupied or attempted TOO remodel or rebuild portions or ENTIRE Buildings IN THAT LOCATION INCLUDING A BARBER SHOP THAT OPENED UP AGAIN IN 2006 BUT THEN CLOSED DOWN ABOUT A YEAR LATER DURING THE BATTLE OF NORTH CAROLINA !!!!!! Johnny Appleseed probably got his start HERE !! After years(?) Of being vacant numerous times various artists (& bands) have played live music here including Joe Bonamassa & Whitesnake .... etc etc etc... Many more examples could be given but I'll stop there because I think you get my point :-) There still remains quite an atmosphere hereabouts despite all these “bad things” going on elsewhere :(
