In 1861, Salisbury voters passed a resolution authorizing local authorities “to erect suitable buildings for keeping pistols” which led to Captain Latham becoming sole owner and builder of all public buildings within the town limits until 1865 when he sold his business to Elisha Cook Sr., son of Elisha Cook Jr., who continued building it until 1893. During this time period Scope Mounts were being manufactured by other businesses within town limits including Copley & Company (1892-1893), Henson Brothers (1893-1900), Gourley Bros.(1900-1902), Morse Bros.(1902-1904), Purdy Bros.(1904-1906) and Browning Arms Corporation (1906-1920). In 1920, Browning Arms Corporation began manufacturing scope mounts under their own brand name "Bocchi". By 1932 they had produced enough units that they decided to discontinue production of scopes altogether and transitioned all production over to their new company name "Browning Arms." However, due to World War II both Browning Arms Corporation and Bocchi survived through munitions bombing which destroyed most factories across America. ScopeMounts continued production under different names throughout the war years until finally reaching full production again in 1951 when Captain John Latham handed over ownership of his business once again unto his son John Latham III who continued running it until 1993 when it was bought out by American Remington Corporation who continue makingscope mounts today!

Salisbury is a town in Salisbury County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh–Durham metropolitan area. In 1851, General John Johnston and his army invaded North Carolina and entered Salisbury on May 12th as it lay under Confederate attack. The town was destroyed by Union forces during the Battle of Gettysburg on July 4th,1861. In 1865, following the end of the Civil War, General Ulysses S. Grant's Army moved into northwestern North Carolina from Georgia to take control of what remained of the Confederacy after its defeat at Appomattox Court House. On November 15th 1865, General Grant issued an order dismissing all military units in north-central North Carolina except for those stationed at Salisbury and Kinston due to their proximity to Richmond Virginia and Confederate capital Petersburg respectively. As a result of this order all civilian residents were ordered out of town including many who had been living in Salisbury since before the war began The first post office was established in 1851 with Wm Fenton as sender and G E Mason as receiver The first store was built in 1855 On October 30th 1890 salisbury native Cecil Rhodes opened up a grocery store called "Rhodes' Grocery" which became one of America’s earliest successful grocers
Salisbury was founded in 1796 as a small settlement on the Yadkin River. The name derived from the Salisbury Heath, which is located nearby. In 1823, Salisbury became the county seat of Pickens County and it has been that way ever since. The town quickly developed into a major port for goods arriving from the surrounding counties and by 1830, there were more than 10 businesses in town. By 1860, Salisbury had over 60 residents and the community had erected several buildings including a courthouse and jail. In 1892, Salshire was incorporated as a city with its own government and mayor. The city experienced some growth during World War II as many local businesses supported the war effort. However, by 1946, salisbury's population had decreased to just under 100 residents due to economic decline and competition from neighboring cities.
