Reidsville is a small town in North Carolina, United States. It is located on the banks of the Catawba River, about 20 miles (32 km) north of Charlotte. The population was 5,391 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1892 by J.M. Reids and W.H. Lantz as a seasonal settlement on the site of what is now known as downtown Reidsville. The name "Reidsville" originated from Revs., James M., who first suggested it to his friend and neighbor, Hiram Lewis; Lewis thought it sounded like "reeds." In 1905, the community voted to change its name to "Reidsville" after General Ulysses S. Grant's wife Julia Child, who had given birth there two years earlier to their son John Quincy Adams Grant Jr.. The townspeople also chose to rename their old post office "Grant." In 1938, when Hurricane Floyd made landfall in North Carolina, much of western North Carolina was impacted including Reidsville; nearly all telephone lines were downed and many homes were destroyed or damaged. A few months later, when Hurricane Hugo hit southern North Carolina - again affecting Reidsville - most damage was done within downtown area only with some minor damage elsewhere around the community center and other buildings along Catawba riverfrontage

Pistols have come in many different shapes and sizes over the years, with many variations being produced for different purposes. The earliest pistols were simple weapons used by warriors to defend themselves against enemies or other attackers. As gunpowder technology improved, more variants were designed, including pistols which could fire small rounds or shotshells called balls (Fletcher 1847). Ball pistol was first developed in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte as a way to increase firepower on warships (Becker 1944). The development of handguns began in the mid-1600s with the Portuguese Armada’s unsuccessful attempt to attack Spanish colonies in North America (Fletcher 1899). A group of Portuguese soldiers who had served aboard the ships started experiments with cannons and swords on board ship during their trip across the Atlantic Ocean (Fletcher 1899). They discovered that when two waves of cannon shot at each other from opposite sides of a ship, they created catastrophic wounds which required large numbers of human volunteers to clean up before sailing back home(Baker 1945). So important was this discovery that it led to creation of handgun as a modern military weapon(Lench 1926). Gunsmiths quickly adapted these new weapons using existing cannons and swords parts found on sea vessels. Pistol was born! During World War I, handguns made an appearance on battlefields all over Europe as both artillery pieces and individual combatants used them for self-defense(Humphreys 1951). The First World War saw production peaks for handguns in Belgium, Germany, France, Italy and Russia(Klein 1966) but eventually dropped off due to high demand from war effort. However, handgun remained oneof mainstay arms throughout conflict until finally discontinued during Vietnam Era In 1948 there was another major breakthrough with development of semiautomatic pistols which meant owners no longer neededafamiliar reloading procedure Semiautomatic pistols became popular during Cold War era due their increased firepower comparedTo earlier firearms designs However decline after 9/11 terrorist attacks
