Pettit of the North Carolina Militia fired a shot from a cannon at a game of football at Park View Springs. The first shots were only cartridges filled with lead and powder. From that day until 1912, there were no firearms laws in North Carolina and all ammunition could be bought without any restrictions or fees. On October 1, 1912, the state legislature passed an act which made it illegal to manufacture or sell bullets other than those specified by law. This effectively banned all types of ammunition not specifically authorized by the state government. In addition, anyone found manufacturing or selling such ammo would be fined $500 or imprisoned for up to five years. The prohibition on ammunition production and sales did not last long though; within a few years after its passage, companies had started up again producing different types of ammo for various purposes including hunting and target shooting. In 1934, new guncontrol legislation was passed which further regulated ammunition use in the state; this included new requirements for proving ownership of each cartridge before purchase and limited magazine capacity to 10 rounds per firearm. A total of 33 states have now outlawed bullet manufacture and sale (Alaska is one exception), but NRA members in those states can still purchase ammo without any restrictions

Pinehurst is a small town in Durham County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh–Durham MSA. The first mention of Pinehurst occurs in 1823 when Colonel James Polk sent Dr. John Aiken to explore the area and recommend a site for a new military fortification against Native Americans. Polk's report noted that there was "a strong probability" that the fort would be built on what is now known as Blue Ridge Road in Pinehurst Township. The fort was not built, but the name stuck and has been used ever since by residents of Pinehurst and surrounding areas. In 1848, General William Troup moved his army from Yorktown to serve under General Ulysses S. Grant during the American Civil War and encampment occurred near present-day Bigger Rd./ US 27 exit 5A (the old route of US 27). In 1861, General Robert Ewell considered nearby High Point for Confederate forces during the Battle of Cedar Creek; however due to high Union casualties at Over Hill he decided to move his troops south instead and build a new fortified camp near present-day Orangeburg Roads/SR 495 exit 9B (which became known as “Ewell”s Fort). After Confederate forces surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9 1865, most members of veteran's units returned home soon after through May 1865; however some families remained behind in Southern Virginia until they were ordered back north by Secretary Stanton on July 3rd 1865. As part of Reconstruction efforts following the war many white farmers abandoned black cotton plantations in search for better land opportunities west of Charlotteville which led to Pinehurst's growth over time into one of America's largest towns west of Asheville or Raleigh! Pinehurst experienced significant growth starting with its incorporation as an unincorporated community on November 3 1905 from parts of Durham County including portions now located within Johnston Parish along Blue Ridge Rd., Chatham Township eastward from what is now downtown Pinehurst proper including much today still contained within this unincorporated section including all but two blocks currently inside Johnston Parish limits - Tryon St./ Chapel Ave./ SR 214 (now Ayers Ave.), several blocks SW corner RR line/ main street past First Baptist Church onto current Main Street between original alignment NC 176th meridian & Chowan River then SE corner onto current Boulevard de la Russe before turning NE towards Interstate 95 just beyond present day Old Towne Chapel - total population increase up to 2 more generations (+) recorded here! This included +1 additional family born resident herein by 1910 census count enumeration!! Census records show approximately 60%+ African American citizens living here then too !! Population size increased yet again +/- 30% because so many freedmen left # pineshirts followed them out West during late 1800s
Pinehurst is located in Durham County, North Carolina and is a census-designated place. The population was 4,451 at the 2010 census. Pinehurst was founded in 1881 as a small community of only sixty people on the east side of Hickory Creek. It grew rapidly during the early years of this century with the arrival of railroad construction near by. The first post office opened in Pinehurst on November 1, 1881. By 1901, there were over one thousand people living in Pinehurst. A large millinery shop and grocery store were built soon after and many homes were constructed within a few decades to meet the growing town's needs for both residents and businesses. In 1912, Pinehurst became an incorporated village with its own General Assembly which voted to name it "Pinehurst" after Major General James Hayspine - Commander of Confederate forces throughout much of eastern Tennessee during the War Between the States - who had donated land for development hereabouts some time prior. In 1916, when World War I started Richmond County began to be Marshalled by Federal troops into groups called Service Units (SB) who drilled under Company Commander Captain Floyd Forrest from 1918 until he was promoted brigadier general on February 17, 1919; then brigadier general on May 6th 1923 when he was made major general effective that date and assigned command all infantry service units within one hundred miles radius including pinehurt west virginia
