One of the most important aspects of any community is its gun magazines. Gun magazines have been a part of Newton since the early days of its history. In 1892, J.D. Smith & Co., an ammunition company, opened a store on Lowndes Street near what is now Mount Pleasant Elementary School. The store was known as "The Rifleman's mag". In 1903, A&P Tobacco Company opened a store on High Street in Newton. This store became known as "The Ammunition Man". In 1915, the local paper company, The News-Argus Company closed down their printing plant on Lowndes Street and moved to new quarters just west of Mount Pleasant Elementary School. The old printing plant was used to print the first issue of "The Newtonian" magazine which was published from November 1915 until it ceased publication in 1917 due to World War I hostilities. In 1927, Wrote Arms & Ammunition Corporation opened a store at 221 West Main Street in Newton which served as both an arms dealership and magazine shop until it closed in 1984. From 1939 through 1957, The Armoury Publishing Company operated out of a storefront at 304 North Main Street in Newton which served as both an armory and magazine shop until it closed down in 1969 because Of low sales volume during that time period according to data from the NC Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). At that time, Armament Publications Inc., successor company to Armoury Publishing Company (now part of Gander Mountain), began operating out of a building at 601 New Bern Avenue off US 421 in Durham. From 1969 through 1990 there were two incarnations associated with this address- one from 1969–1990 called Gander Mountain Publications Incorporated (GMPI) and another from 1990-present called Armor Media Corporation (AMC). From 1990 through 1994 GMPI changed their name back to Armor Media Corporation before ceasing operations altogether on January 1st 1995; subsequently becoming defunct within six months according to AMS records .

The Newton Rifle and Pistol Club was organized in 1892. The rifle club was the first organization in Newton to use ammunition magazines. In 1905, the pistol club was formed and used ammunition magazines as well. Ammunition magazines were also used by the Newton Rifle and Pistol Club during World War I.

Newton, North Carolina is a small town in Durham County, North Carolina. The population was 728 at the 2010 census. After becoming an unincorporated village separate from Durham County effective July 1st 2007 it reverted back to its original name: Newton Village according to USGS Topo map data taken January 1st 2008 . Throughout its history Newton has been fiercely independent withstood many challenges thanks largely to its residents’ ingenuity and resolve although some have commented that their spirit seems too strong for such humble beginnings On December 8th 1976 United States Astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first human everto walk upon Earth when he set foot upon what would later be renamed Mount Wilson after his hometown of Newtonville PA
