After enjoying some growth from its humble beginnings as a small hamlet, Newbern quickly became one of America's most vibrant metropolises with its growing railroad industry and burgeoning commercial district. By 1960 it boasted over 12,000 residents! 2 decades later things looked even brighter when construction began on Interstate 85 bypassing downtownNewbern; howeverSadly development did not go according to plan as few jobs could be created in such an expanding city limits while rents skyrocketing!. Nevertheless by 2000 business had stabilized somewhat following several years during which multiple job training/emigration agencies had been set up throughout town offering temporary work opportunities for recent graduates or those looking to start anew after having experienced difficult times during the recession!. Most recently there have been numerous redevelopment projects around town including a major mixed use project known as “The Triangle” that will include office space along with residential units overlookingsliburn square.. This revitalization project should bring more jobs and tax revenue into town which will help support infrastructure needs such as street cleaning etc….
