Morrisville is a town in Nash County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. The town is named for Colonel Morris, an early settler and local political leader. Morrisville is located on the south side of Nash County and includes most of the community of Morrellown within its boundaries. The first people to live in Morrisville were Native Americans who hunted game along the area's now-exhausted creek system. Colonel John Morris brought his family to this area in 1836 from Virginia. They built a log cabin on a bluff overlooking the creek and began to grow maize, beans, and other crops. In 1840 they erected a larger frame cabin which served as their home until 1857 when they moved into what is now known as their present house. Colonel John Morris’ death left his estate divided among his children with each taking part equally in its management until 1870 when it was determined that one son should manage all aspects of the estate on behalf of all heirs apparent including himself thereby creating a hereditary aristocracy which continues to this day. In 1865 General Beauregard occupied Nash County during Confederate POW camp operations at Fort Fisher and ordered all males over 21 years old into production camps where he used them as forced labor for mines and other businesses outside of Nash County while still incarcerated at Fort Fisher; many men died from exposure or disease here during those harsh working conditions including Captain James Harnett (1807-1900) who became one of America's earliest successful mail carriers With post-war Reconstruction efforts under way in South Carolina General Sherman transferred most military forces from South Carolina to Georgia so that Jarrett had control over much eastern Tennessee; however violence continued throughout 1865 between white supremacists/Confederates & blackBTs/TSAFs called "Gullah" Pirates (& Colored Men) gangsters running amok thru small towns & plantations mostly near SavannahRiverboat landing about 20 miles northeast ofmorrisvillewhere I got my nickname "Sandy" Dirty Dozen Gangsters killed 100 men total we call ourselves Red Shirts because our favorite color was red

Morrisville is a town in Stanly County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,525 at the 2010 census. Morrisville was laid out by Robert Morris in 1794 and named for him. It was incorporated as a town in 1867. The community of Morrisville was founded by James Waddell on a small farm he bought from John Locke in 1824. For many years it served as the only settlement within Stanly County and did not have any formal government until 1907 when it became part of the new county. The first courthouse in Morrisville was built in 1827 and served until 1930 when it was replaced by a new building that still stands today. The first post office opened in 1827 and served until 1830. The first school in Morrisville was erected on a log cabin near the present day church. It operated for one year before being closed due to lack of students. In 1840, another school building was erected which also served until 1930. One of the most famous citizens of Morrisville is Daniel Boone who lived here during his lifetime and even hunted bear with local resident Creek Indians while living on his plantation nearby (see below). In 1907, Stanly County formed an independent state called North Carolina which included parts of what is now Stanly County including Morrisville along with other towns such as Rocky Mount, Camp Hill, Chapel Hill and Hendersonville all located west of Raleigh (the state capital). When North Carolina seceded from the Union following the American Civil War, much of what is now Stanly County remained within this newly created state including Morrisville which continued to serve as its sole municipality despite having no elected government (the only municipal entity within NC without representation at the federal level). Today, Morrishville remains an unincorporated community within Stanly County with no local government or official name but it retains some historical significance due to its location within our county boundaries as well as its close proximity to Raleigh where important events took place during its time as part of NC’s history (e g Daniel Boone sightings), both nationally and locally
Morrisville was founded in 1792 by General James Wilkinson and his family. The town was named for Colonel John Morris, a British soldier who had fought in the American Revolution. The Wilkinson family operated a mill here until 1825 when they sold it to Alexander Campbell. Campbell built a gristmill and sawmill here, which he leased from the Pisgah Baptist Church. In 1852, the church moved to nearby Hillsborough and the mills closed. In 1865, the state legislature granted Morrisville town status and the mill became an incorporated company. The company continued to operate the mills until 1975 when they were sold to Allied Bancorp Incorporated.
